I'm am from the Philippines. I really have the problem on how to study. You see, we live above commercial building, only have 2 rooms, I have 3 siblings. My parents together with our youngest sister sleeps at the other room while me, my brother and older sister in the other room. We don't have a good study table(no study table at all). While studying, I can't understand what I am reading because I cannot fully concentrate because it is really noisy from the outside and the people around me keeps on going in and going out of the room. TV is on and my brother and sister is playing games in the computer. It's really very chaotic scene. Sometimes, I really wish that I was born in the US. Now, I'm a 2nd year medical student, and I think I can't stand longer in this situation. And our finance is limited. My question is how can I improve my concentration and what is the most effective strategy for this?

If you can force your mind to focus, you should be able to study. Not many people can study in conditions like these, but some rare people can.

You can also buy some earplugs. I got some for 2 bucks US and they work very nice; most sounds are blocked.

Good luck!

hmm, can you go outside for reading? such as park.
but, for me i dont' like to read outside. haha.
or read with friends such as friend's room.
or if you have no choice, have to stay at your room.
what about ear plug? it's useful. at least, you not hear anything.

on the other hand, practise concentrate your mind such as Yoka, or budhism way. It can help you.

Maybe you should ask your teacher if you could stay after school and study
