I think you need to give a lot more. My son earns around £100 a week and gives me £35 or £40 (if he gets a bonus)
Like jeanimus says, he is also expected to do odd jobs, keep the gardens tidy, do his washing and keep his room tidy. he is also a dab hand at cooking and once in a while i get to put my feet up and he cooks. If you wondered...hes 18 (today in fact!);

At £15 you are doing very well but it all depends on how much you earn. I charged my son a reasonable amount for a year before his wedding. However, as I could afford it I saved it all and after his honeymoon I gave him a cheque for £2000. Had I not done it in this way he would have spent as he went and had nothing to show for it. He is as a result of that, a thrifty and hard working person.
Happy new Year.

Giving your parents £15 a week wont really help you understand how much it costs in the big bad world to run a house. £35 a week is what my kids pay. And they do their own laundry and keep their rooms clean. And Help with housework and cooking. Of course it depends on what you earn, how old you are etc.

You should think in terms of a percentage of your take home pay, back in the stone age when I was in your situation I payed 60% to p and m.
