It doesn't depend on the wood but on the supplier. Most modern suppliers are regulated now and so use sustainable crops.

Sapele, Sapelli or Aboudikro (Entandrophragma cylindricum) is a large tree, up to 45 m high (rarely 60 m), native to tropical Africa. All logging is by definition unfriendly to the environment on account of the damage done to the local ecosystem. This wood is used for aesthetic reasons and so it can be argued that its use is frivolous and non essential. However in our real world it is used. It is less unfriendly to the environment in the long term if the trees are farmed on a sustainable basis, However I can find no reference to prove that this is done. Given the size of the tree and location ( tropical Africa) I very much doubt that this is logged on any responsible basis.

All the fossil fuels are good when they produce CO2 that goes into Mother Nature recycle system. Plants with a process called photosynthesis recycles our air by taking out the CO2 and giving us back oxygen. Where do u think that our original fossil fuels came from. The plants grow big and strong and their leaves fall off in the winter to wash down the rivers to the delta where they deteriorate to produce gas ,oil, and coal.
