We have a boxer, originally we wanted a bulldog but went with the boxer cause he was cheaper and so adorable. I never have been a dog person (I'm 27) but as soon as we got him he became my baby. I love him to death, he is the sweetest most affectionate loving animal I've ever had. We have a bulldog now and they are best friends. They both keep us laughing constantly and are both ADORABLE. We also chose the boxer after researching them and finding that they are excellent with children and other animals. We plan on having kids in the future and we already had a couple cats at the time, and they all get along really well. I dont think I'll ever get another kind of dog. Its boxers from now on!

I have a rottweiler.. I got him because he's soo great and has one of the best personalities ever. He's my best friend and pretty much amazing, the only man who i know will never break my heart, lol. I wanted a big dog that would be sweet, but would also discourage people from bothering my house.. I used to live in the mountains and was afraid of chainsaw men hahaha.. how ridiculous is that?? I can also do everything with him. He's so well behaved, he goes everywhere with me! (( Swimming, sledding, frisbee, hiking, sitting around the house, he even likes to watch me cook! haha, and he doesn't even get the food, lol ))
Wow, i realized that it's pretty hard to describe why you decided to get your best friend.. all i can really say is because.. just because.. because i just knew he was the right dog for me =)

I have a Boston Terrier. I have wanted one for quiet sometime. I went just to look at a littler. I found a smooshie and freckled little girl. I fell in love with her right away. I paid the cash then and there. I needed a smaller dog since I am not a big person. It is hard for me to control them. She is a small dog, but not frail. She has some bulk to her(probably the people food lol). She has been a great choice for me. Not overly active gets along with everyone and everything. Maybe friendly to a fault. I couldn't ask for a better dog.

I have a 5 month old Bichonpoo. I decided to get her because I wanted a little furball that was hypoallergenic. There were no small breed dogs in any of the local shelters. I got more than what I asked for when I got my dog. She is the best dog in the world. I have multiple sclerosis and she is so in tuned to my needs. She is so mellow and friendly a real sweetheart. See her picture at left and on my 360,

I have a minature Doberman Pinscher. Cute little bugger, easy to maintain, potty-trained (thank heavens), independent for the most part, and small enough to be a good housepet.
Irrelevant note here, but he's actually a miniature Pinscher mix. We just don't know what he's mixed with.

I wanted the perfect dog:
Excellent Family pet and number one guard dog. I wanted a dog that would be easily house trained and enjoy both long and short walks. I needed a dog that did not bark unless provoked, (mainly for the neighbours) and I wanted to know that to just look at him a burglar/mugger would decide against. I have all the above and more, a truly loving dog who is courageous and brave. I own:
An American Akita Inu!

I have a lab/chow named Drako, from the movie Dragonheart. I chose a lab mix because they are typically a very loyal, and devoted breed. Mine was very easy to house train and is exceptionally smart. He knows when he has done something wrong before I even have to discover it. (We're having a little issue with the kitchen trash.) I have had several differant breeds including several lab/chow and always seem to come back to them. I had a husky/sheppard mix (huge dog) but both breeds have a hip displasia problem and it broke my heart when he only lived to the age of 3. He also was fiercely loyal to me and my wife and kids, but very gentle and playful, not to mention that he knew the differance. I would have to say that I will most likely stick with retriever breeds, lab, golden, etc. By the way, I didn't pick my last 2 dogs, they picked me.

I had a beagle mix and wanted another dog about the same size. Went to the local Humane Society and the dog I picked really picked me - she walked up to my purse and started chewing on it! LOL She's a pit bull / golden retriever mix. She weighs about 92 pounds and thinks she's a lap dog. I've never had a dog that isn't a mix breed although when I was a little girl, my parents' friends hand a weimeriner (spelling?) and he was such a good dog. My dog is very sweet and well-mannered and I love her to death.

I have a Siberian Husky and a Beagle-(who I just adopted yesterday!)
I got my Husky because I love all dogs and my friend couldn't keep her, so I took her. However, I am like you in the sense that Huskies have always been my favorite breed and I have wanted one ever since I knew what they were.
The Beagle has never been a favorite breed of mine due to stories of annoying ones and encounters with kind of flighty, spaced out, howling ones. Despite this, I wanted to adopt a small dog to befriend my Husky and when I went to the shelter, the Pomeranian-Corgi mix who I planned on adopting growled at me from the cage, while this adorable little beagle licked my hand when I offered it to him. I fell in love.
