...I don't know whether it is Agoraphobia, or a Panic Attack, but generally I have to hide behing a Beard of some kind, to feel "normal" in Public.
I remember my Parents showing me up as a child, maybe it stems from that...?
Anyway, just wondered if anyone else is similarly screwed-up?!?

just be yourself, drop all this thinking you're probably really normal (& if you weren't who cares what people think?)
it's more important to be yourself. I was once so depressed i went & sat in alocal park & cried my eyes out & nobody even cared to come over & ask if I was ok. hnestly don't worry about it, just enjoy yourself. you don't sound screwed up!
if you feel you have agoraphobia, you can ask ur GP to refer you for CBT (cognitivr behaviuoral therpay) on the NHS
deep breathing every few hours also helps.
let go & relax.

yes i had fear of showing emotion to anyone anywhere, and in public, it would of been way worse. I wore coal black presribition glasses all of the time. Cause when a person looks in your eyes, they can tell that person a lot. Your eyes show a lot of emotion. Then i hint behind a mask, i did not know how to act or what to do with my emotions, so i would wear a mask. I am not talking about the mask you buy, it is the one you put on, so everyone thinks that you are just great, no problems, then they start asking you how can you laugh at a time like this, that is cause that mask you have put on all of you life, is the only way you know how to express yourself, and make light of things that have happen to you . It is moreless a poor copying skill. I think almost everyone does it in one way or another. Sometimes you grow out of it, if you don't then you may think about seeing someone about it, and work out why you are having a fear of showing emotion in public, or anywhere. hope this helps......

Happy hoildays

Well I don't have a beard to hide behind since I'm a girl lmfao(my shot at a joke...) Anyway I know how you feel and it's normal, don't worry about it :). Just remember that other people have similar problems so chillax and don't worry so much about showing emotions in public :).

It's not agoraphobia, that is a phobia of big open spaces.
I don't like laughing in public, i guess you could call that similarly screwed up.

I think it's actually pretty normal. What I think and feel is my business and it's got nothing to do with anyone else. It's probably also to do with breeding (are people going to jump up and down about this?) - remember the British stiff upper lip?

generally, our culture does not allow us showing emotions...
in other hand it is impossible to supress it
I think that you are shy ; try to find your balance between...

and person is a mask , compromise between our inner world and society
perhaps your idea of hiding behind the beard represents such your need
good luck!

it's all to do with issues of self-confidence. If you don't have faith in yourself, no-one else will. I'd suggest seeing if there are some self-confidence classes around ... might help.
