We have two dobermans and just moved into a new rental home, which we rented largely for the huge backyard for our dogs. Well now that we're moving in we've discovered our neighbors have a small hound mix. You can imagine the problem this creates. The fence is a 6-foot wood privacy fence, but if both of us have our dogs out at the same time, they just race up and down that side of the yard, barking and harassing each other (I'm also worried about the grass!). I don't want this to cause problems with the neighbors, so am considering getting one of those anti-bark boxes you mount on the fence that emits an ultrasonic noise when they bark, in the hopes that it will shut up their dog and ours. However, our dogs don't have a problem with just incessant barking as the product seems to indicate, they are mainly obnoxious just when this other dog is out. Has anyone had experience with these things? If this won't work, any other recommendations?

First thing You should probably discuss the problem with your neighbors, they probably don't know that their dog are barking.

Personally - I hate when my dogs bark at thing while they're outside. If they start barking - they get brought in. They pretty much know not to bark if they want to stay outside.

I think the anti-barking device is always a good idea for your dogs
I know it sounds harsh but it is the most succesful way to stop a dog barking 24/7.

The anti-barking products cheapest you can pick up is here:

they work really well...our dogs (a bulldog and a boxer) both started getting us in trouble in our apartment so we had to get them the anti bark collars. They worked after the 1st day they knew if they had the collar on not to bark. No more complaints and all we have to do is show the dogs the collar and they calm down..its a great thing.

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/gPKax

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

Personally I think its cruel to do something like that. It's like putting a collar around your neck that lets out a high pitch sound everytime you talk. Now you said that you and your neighbor put your dogs out at the same time. Is there any chance you could let them out about half an hour before to let them run around for a bit. Maybe they'll be calmer when the neighbor lets her/his dog out.

Nope;I don't fall for useless expensive SCAMS. No sound is magical....or "harmful". Real bark-collars DO work.
