Are you taking anything topically also? I'm also on Minocycline for acne and I have to use two different topical treatments as well. I've been taking it since September and I am now seeing results. I had to add the second topical treatment to the mix however to get the full results. You may need to increase your dose or add topical treatments. You should go back and talk to your doctor. Good luck, I know from experience just how awful acne can be.

Antibiotics are an extremely short-term solution for acne. They also have some nasty side-effects, like hurting the immune system and possibly damaging the liver. These things may make your acne much worse after you stop taking the antibiotics.

Antibiotics focus on killing the p.acnes (and other harmful) bacteria. This, on the short term, should clear your skin. But the bad thing is that antibiotics don't do anything to remove the root cause of acne.

Bacteria can also become resistant to antibiotics, which seems to be the case with you (of course check this with your doctor also). If the bacteria have developed immunity to the antibiotics they are pretty much useless for treating acne.

I'm sure you have heard the old saying that mice don't come to a clean house. Well it's the same with bacteria. Acne-causing bacteria require certain environment to survive in. They just won't survive long enough in a clean, healthy body to cause acne.

It's the terrain that matters, not the bacteria.

So if you think about it from this perspective using antibiotics doesn't really make sense. Because the bacteria will always come back as long as the source is there.

So remove the source and clean up the terrain and you can forget the antibiotics. Of course that requires more than just popping a pill.

I'm also on Minocline. I have medium acne. I also used this acne cream (benozyle peroxide 10%) with it for a month now and it seem to work. Minocline alone wont work. Oh also try honey, honey is also an anti-bacteria treament for acne
