You ned to walk, and do so before eating -- anything.
I have been working at changing my body radically over the last 18 mos. Lost 25 lbs in '05, and getting to the end of '06, and its just over 72 lost this year (365 down to 268 lbs. in 18 months). I still need to lose another 100 (male, 5'10"/268 lbs.)
Sounds like whatever I'm doing, its working, right? Yes, but I have tried so many things, and balances of exercise/diet, etc., and what I have found is, at age 40, to lose about 1/2 to 1 lb/wk. requires 2+ hours of walking (every a.m., before eating anything, just sugarless coffee) & dieting religiously. However, I need to ALSO be employed; been out of work for over a year. I can keep up this regimen while unemployed, but find that the "3-5 times/week X 30 minutes speed-walking, and then, eating sensibly" - if I did that, I'd GAIN 1-2 lbs./wk., and nothing hurts like making a huge diet effort and still gain lbs

If your doctor says you have fibroids, you may want to get them removed. They can grow to the size of melons.
