i mean, changed for the better. I tried asking him to spell things out clearly without using any abbreviation when chatting on ym with me. But he still uses them..and i always have to remind him about it. Can i use this as a test on him whether he's really changed in other stuff i asked him to?

You are asking him to make changes for you, WHY? There's only one person that we have the right to ask that of, ourselves! We can't change others, and they can't change us! If you are asking him to change so much, then maybe you need to find someone else more to your liking!
