You sound just like many young interns, who go to medical school...they find themselves immersed in the books and diagnosing themselves with everything lol...and you could be on the verge of being a bit of a hypochondriac...I have been there, worrying constantly about if I was sick or not, and used my good old Merick Manual, to find out what dread disease I had...the thing is this, try to use your good old common sense...if the doctors say you are fine, then there is a good chance then that you are just that...go hide that dang book...I found that when I went on line and started trying to figure out Bible verses, and researched them,...it got my mind off of the ailments...I tell you, I think it is the old devil putting those thoughts in my head to keep me from thinking about God and Jesus...and so I prayed to get rid of those thoughts and figure that I should be grateful for the good health I really do have...there are many hobbies that you can get into if you're not the kind of person that reads the bible...but hide that dang book and just tell yourself that you are just fine...our minds can play tricks on us...sometimes, I found that people that diagnose themselves with something wrong, are people that have been made to feel guilty about something, and it is almost like they are punishing themselves...I know that I have to let God be the one to pass judgement on me, and have faith that He will do what He wants with me...So pray on it and have a Great New year, and get rid of that book...God Bless through Jesus

This is a good question, a lot of people do that, and they don't like what they learn or read. Well you know, when a lot of those books were written, a lot was not yet known. Daily they learn more and more about all kinds of Medical conditions. And you have already admitted it , that you are obesessed with this, and being obsessed is a scary thing in its self. I don't go lookin up things, cause sometimes a person may think that they have it and they don't. But i would tell you you need help with your obsession, and that would be with a professional that treats that. It is inherited, and it will keep a hold on you, and will get worse, so you really need to go and get help for that now. How to kind of control it, and not let it get the best of you. Cause it will if it can. It has gotten some really famous people in its life. And they had money to get help, or build a wall around them. I didn't, and i just could not live with it. So instead of looking up all those things about medical symptoms and go get help for your obsessiveiness. Do it now, you will not be sorry. And they stuff you read, remember, some of it is outdated, and some things they are just touching on after hundreds of years of studing it. And some of the books leave no room for that gray area, it is black or white, can't be any way else . Well the people with those disorders, dieases, are now saying yea, i know what i feel, and what i am going though, so how about getting an open mind on a few things here. We are not still in the cave man days. And everyone is different . Hope that helps a little, but PLEASE get some help here soon......take care.....god bless.....yes read the Dog Days of Arthur Caine, or even Logon's Run, which the movie could not even begin to make from the book. It may be short, but packed. There are a lot of really good books out there, some short, and some thousand of pages long, and true stories, that are really interesting . So go look for a good book and curley up and keep warm, and read a book that will make you happy, and really enjoy the book, and the words that are written in it...........
Happy Hoildays

I can relate to this. The internet, although awesome, has brought the overuse of- "self-diagnosis". I am very guilty of this. Every day I have some new condition. Just last week I had hyperthyroid, hypothyroid, diabetes, and scoliosis. I think the only way to truly get over it is by getting a diagnosis from a qualified professional that you believe in. If you have a final say on your medical issue then you can proceed with confidence. Don't give up on finding the cause. If you don't like the opinion get another. If you are confident with your current diagnosis then move on.....it appears that all is well with your health. Don't try to find a problem when there is none. When I need a stress relief, I read. I happen to love reading fantasy novels. (I am 31 and some would say to old to read books like Harry Potter) It is fun to delve into a different world for a few hours. Good luck on your quest. You seem smart and conscientious, you will find a way!

Oh I know exactly how you feel, I am the same way, well at least I used to be. I used to watch TV and there would be a commercial about diabetes, or cancer, or even AIDS...I know, it's crazy, but for some reason I would just get paranoid about it and start trying to find symptoms, that I didn't even have...I don't feel that way anymore, because I went to the doctor, and got a checkup and everything was fine...I guess it's just that, the things you think you feel is what you really don't want to feel, but in your mind you do...So your mind is really making you think that you are really feeling symptoms when you really don't....it's just allin your mind..and you just have to find something else to do, whether it's reading a book, watching TV, going out....or anything to keep you away from medical books, or the internet...If the doctors say u are healthy, then ur healthy and you have nothing to worry about...you can't let your fears control your life, just find something that you like to do...and you will eventually stop thinking like this....trust me....I wish you the best!

I Am Obsessed With Looking Up Things About Medical Symptoms But Dont Like What I Find It Scares Me?… i am obsessed by worry about things…” Why can’t I stop….I have never been this obsessed before…Yes I take meds am seeing a therpist but he isnt here with me late at night telling me no… it worries me and is very annoying… im depressed enough
You are NOT allright. At this point you should be questioning the quality of the help you have been receiving. I get the distinct impression the quality of your care is substandard, and that you should be looking for another - and better - psychiatrist. Just look at the following list: it looks for all the world like a buffet table and you have on your plate a serving from EACH of the Three Tables [CLASSES of psychiatric disorders]:
1). Anxiety disorders (definition of anxiety, anticipatory anxiety, GAD, phobias, panic, panic disorder, PTSD, agoraphobia, social phobia, specific phobia, obcessive-compulsive disorder, obsession, compulsion)
2). Mood disorders (depression, major depression, mania, bipolar disorder, possible causes, attributional style, lithium carbonate, biochemical factors, zeitgeber, seasonal affext disorder)
3). Somatoform disorders (somatoform disorder, somatization disorder, hypochondriasis, conversion disorder)
My advice to you is dump your doctor and replace him/her with someone who is actually competent.
Good Luck and Happy New Year

hello love, my heart feels heavy for you. i suffer with depression, ocd, ptsd, anxiety, panic attacks so you see i have some insight into your situation you may well have a form of ocd, as you show some of the classic signs, like believing you have an illness etc, but these things wont go away with the help of a professional person, so book an appointment with your GP and he will refer you to a professional who specialises in the areas you need help in. in the mean time, when ever you feel your getting the symptoms take long deep breaths try a paper bag if you cannot control your breathing deeply on your own breath into the bag. it may sound strange and feel strange at first but it does work, it will take sometime to sort out your medication etc but don't worry, just remember that Rome wasn't built in a day.your gonna be just fine have some patience and trust the doctors opinions best wishes to you

What about health, happiness and trancendence? What about thinking of other people? They need your help.
Maybe more walking and talking and dancing would help.
I do Sudoku or something similar before going to bed to help me 'switch off".
