If someone murdered you brother with a gun, would you go around wearing guns around your necks etc.? You beleive that Jesus was crucified, so consider the return of Jesus, would he want to be reminded of that horrible incident he experienced, I wouldn't want to see my friends wearing symbols of my torture etc. - I beleive that Jesus, was NOT crucified, or tortured.

BTW:
The Islamic beleif basically ends where Mel Gibsons movie begins, so, Mel just made a kewl movie about the punishment of the man that betrayed jesus.
GOD ALMIGHTY ONE protected His messenger!

Wonder Woman:
Tere may be evidence, but that does not mean it was Jesus, it was a common excecution those days. And besides, Jesus didn't die for mankinds sins. why would God have to do that? Jesus was innocent, a pure prophet of God, Pophets were tested by God, and endured many hardships for mankind, but they were not murdered. God would not take the life of an innocent man, to forgive us for our sins, (Ritual sacrifices sound fimiliar?) Jesus was raised to Heaven, his return to earth is purely and simply to correct the slander that was made in the name of God. Jesus worshipped God, the way God wanted to be worshipped and respected God, by man calling Jesus God, must be really disappointing to a prophet - And God knows this, so Jesus will return to put right what man, twisted for personal gain, and ignorance.

Mr Thomas A:
For your own education islam came 700 years after Jesus death. That is why the quran has quotes from the totah and the new testment and also from all other faiths it is a another Muslim fraud.
So you be of truth of lie. All liers go to sheol. You do not have to suffer the judgement of God you can be spared that, his name is Jesus he alone can save a man.
My Answer:
Islam, came long before Jesus. Jesus submitted to the One God, and one who submits himself to One God and associates no partner to Him, is a Muslim. Jesus, fyi, was spreading the word of God, the One God, NOT Jesus, not the son, certainly NOT the ghost, but the Word of ALLAH. Worship none other than ALLAH and you will be on the right path.
Jesus will return my friend, but to save the word of God!

Actually, the cross being a symbol of christianity is not derived from the crucifixion. Constantine formed that symbol using a spear and a sword, the day after a dream he had .... this is easily researched with google, by the way. So, the idea of wearing a cross that was derived from weapons of war seems fitting with your description of a violent shooting.

Funny how many christians don't know that those weapons formed the shape they use as a symbol of peace and love. And how many will deny it without checking into it, lol. Nothing like wearing blinders.

Well each christian wear a cross for there own reasons. I not know you education level so i will try and not speak over your head. The cross is a point of contact between man and God. It is at the cross that man is faced with all that is contained in man which is pure evil and blindness toward God. At the cross we see God giving his best and we see man as his worst. You have said that Jesus did not die on a cross. Roman records alone prove you are a lier for saying that. You said that Jesus was not tortured and once again roman records prove you are a lier. Our beleifs in the christian faith is not in blind ignorence as many faiths are we have history and records over a great many years to prove wth out a dought who Jesus is. I should point out that Jesus about every prophet of God has been killed for the faith. But Jesus is not a prophet because a prophet speak in the name of God and works in the power of that Name. Jesus is the son of God. No other person every did more mericals then he. If you add up all the prophets and all there mericals. Jesus still preformed more then them all added togeither. More then that Jesus came back to life and presented himself alive after death and it was witnessed by 500 people who suffered death being beaten and burned alive and eaten by lions and not one recanted his writen statement about seeing Jesus alive after the cross. As at the cross you have to come to the reallity that this sinnless man who hurt no one died because he was send to die. Jesus was spoke of by all the prophets. It was fortold he would come and that he would die for the sin of the world. And he did exactly that. When you watch Mel Gibsons movie think of the words that Jesus had spoke. Love your ememy, do not evil, return not evil for evil. be kind, gentle, mercyful. This man was a real threat to all these people was he not, i mean we can't have people telling us to love poeple and then going off and healing the sick can we.
That would really harm us would it not. No man killed Jesus he layed down his life freely. He was born to die this cross is his badge of honor. When you look at the cross and the nails which periced the hands and feet of this man. His hands and feet are nailed with yesterday today and tomorrow being fully in his control. He gives us hope faith and love. And sealed them for all times. Jesus was nailed to the cross for my sin and your sin and the sin of all people. Jesus is the redeemer of men all over the earth. He alone has salvation for man.
Maybe you can see Jesus a little better if you for a few days get a bible out and get on the net and research for a little time why Jesus is who he is.

Answer: There is much debate to whether or not it is appropriate, or even a sin to wear crosses and crucifixes as jewelry. Christians did not begin wearing crosses around their necks until after crucifixion was no longer the primary source of capital punishment, therefore is not equivalent to a modern-day person wearing a miniature death chamber around their neck. Many look at the cross as simply the instrument of death used to slay our beloved Savior. Jesus was not dragged off kicking and screaming to the cross to His death; He could easily have escaped, had He chosen to. Because it was God's will, He willingly went to the cross, taking upon Himself the sins of the world, cleansing those who believe in Him of their own sins.

The only reasons Scripture would forbid wearing a cross or crucifix would be if the object became an idol used for worship (1 Corinthians 10:14), or if the person were consumed with how the jewelry made them look (1 Peter 3:3). I have never seen a necklace be used as an object of worship. Many people wear the cross or crucifix as a fashion piece without any clue of the symbolism or any desire to represent Christ. But that should not mean that Christians can't wear them. Many Christians wear crosses as a proud expression of their love, respect, and service to Christ, along with a remembrance of what he did for us. Still the debate goes on to say that crosses are acceptable because it symbolizes that Jesus took on our sins at the cross, but since He is risen, we should not wear crucifixes. Others argue that they wear crucifixes as a reminder of the sacrifice Jesus made for us.

The only problem I can see is if people allow objects, such as crosses, crucifixes, figurines, rosaries, bumper stickers, etc. take the place of the true change that should take place in our hearts. The things that we have and the things that we carry are not what make us Christians. God is not very concerned with what we wear as long as we do not dress in a way that would cause anyone to stumble in their walk with God (Romans 14:20), and are not absorbed with our looks or our possessions. He is searching out our hearts to find who is faithful to Him, and who encourage and show love to others. It is unjustified for Christians to believe that their own opinion is right, without any Scripture to validate their opinion, while at the same time judging others. It is not for any of us to judge whether wearing a cross is proper or not; every Christian has to seek God's approval in all we do. If it is not clearly outlined in Scripture whether a practice is law or outlawed, then we have to seek the truth through our own personal relationship we have with Jesus Christ

I wear a cross... It shows your love for God and for me it reminds me to stay in check. Yes I need a reminder sometimes because I am always ready to run someone off the road who cuts me off =) However, I suppose your question is fair, but F.Y.I. I am not advertising his death. The cross represents Jesus dieing for our sins so that we may repent and may be saved from our sins. It's the meaning behind the cross.. you went overboard. It's fine that you have your religious beliefs but you shouldn't have to mock others to make your choice favorable.

First, the point of your question is why. It's not important whether YOU personally believe that Jesus was murdered or tortured.

The cross is the SYMBOL of the Jesus' sacrifice. Not his torture, thus argument that when somebody shoots your brother you wouldn't wear gun. Believe that Jesus LIVED and died for OUR SINS (means sacrificed himself in order to pay for all ours past and future sins) which allows believers to go to heaven by regretting their sins, they don't have to pay for it ... so this believe is the basic stone of christian believe. That's why they wear the cross, to remind the basic stone of their believe: Jesus lived and sacrificed himself for our sins.

I saw an interesting movie where it was explained that the little cross provided some protection from vampires. Apparently less efficient then garlic necklaces but probably more fashionable and less smelly.

The cross is a symbolic expression of the crucifiction and more importantly what it means to Christians. I personally don't choose to wear one and some branches of Christianity even find it offensive, I believe.
