I cut it in half around the pit, whack the pit with a knife and remove it, cut each half in half, and the peel peels right off. I don't do the scooping thing because there can be brown spots near the peel. If you peel them off, they usually take the bad spots.

Slice it in 0.5. utilizing a large knife thrust it into the pit about halfway down the knife blade and then turn the knife and which will loosen the pit. Discard the pit. With the peel nonetheless on and conserving one 0.5 on your palm, use the different hand to slice it (with a paring knife) almost right down to the peel leaving the peel intact . you may slice it the different course also in case you want it diced. I just wanted to add to the previous answers...
If you only want to use half of the avocado, save the half with the seed still intact. Wrap it in plastic and store in the fridge. The seed will prevent it from spoiling and browning so quickly.
