In spoken language sometimes you may avoid the articles and you go unnoticed. However, in written language it will sound not so good. Grammar is the beauty of any language so we should admire it and try to learn and adapt.

Articles are important in English. They are used to specify whether a noun is a specific thing or general . You wouldn't use the second sentence. That isn't how English is written or spoken. If you were to speak that way, people would think you have mental lapses of some sort.

Hmmmmm, I wonder how authoritative that article was?
As a teacher, I guarantee that students who do not use 'articles' correctly will suffer the wrath of my red pencil.
I'm sure too, if you went to any another country and chose to not use the grammatical rules of that language correctly, your work would be less respected there.

it is mostly tradition. Also "a" can mean any, and "the" means "specific one"
