She resides at independant Senior Citizen home but is unable to cook, clean, shower etc... Can I claim her on my tax? Management office of the center said that she's too old to be by herself and eventually will need full time care. But for now 4 days a week would be ok.

There are five tests that have to be satisfied in order for you to claim her as a dependent.
1. You meet, she is your mother.
2. if her gross income is $3,300 or less you are ok, if it is more you fail to qualify. Social security and other exempt income don't count inthis test.
3. You have to show that you have provided over one-half of her annual support.
4.If she is a U.. citizen or a resident of the U.S. you are ok.
5. She can not be a qualifying child.
Normally, the income test is the one that screws up the exemption for you.
Good Luck.

First of all tell about your residence status.
If you are a residential status is in india and incurred expenses for your grand mother then Income Tax has no provision for claiming expenses .
