Contrary to what all these people are saying, not necessarily. I am allergic to Pennicillin. It gives me hives. But I can take amoxicillin. This is the antibiotic that is used most for people who are allergic to pennicillin. These 2 drugs are NOT the same. One is made from mold and the other is completely chemical. If you are allergic to molds, no penicillin for you. But amoxicillin should do the trick. However, if you have any similar symptoms of your penicillin allergy, stop taking the drug immediately and call your doctor!!!

Penicillin antibiotics are the number one cause of drug allergies. Some people who are allergic to penicillin are also allergic to other closely related antibiotics, including cephalosporins, such as cephalexin, cefprozil, and cefuroxime. Ask your pharmacist or doctor about these antibiotics.

In some cases, it is possible to go through desensitizing to penicillin. This is where your doctor would reintroduce the antibiotic to you in small doses. What ever you do, do not attempt to self medicate. When you speak with your doctor and your pharmacist, you should always make them aware of your medication allergies.

Most likely.

Amoxicillin is in the same family of antibiotics as Penicillin so it is likely that you're allergic to it as well.

Talk to your doctor and have him test you to find out if you're allergic.

Yes, do not take any medication that has cillin in its name. Always double check with your pharmacist to be sure you are given a correct substitute for someone with a penicillin allergy too.

Yes. You may also be allergic to these drugs:
Penicillin V, Pen-Vee, Bicillin, amicillin, naficillin.

Usually people allergic to penicillins are also allergic to cephalosporins because they are penicillin related such as:

Keflex, ancef, cefoxitin(mefoxin), cefaclor (ceclor), cefotetan (cefotan), cefotaxime (claforan), velosef, and rocephin.

Yes, amoxicillin is derived from penicillin.
You should definitely tell any doctor who prescribes you anything about your allergy. And consider getting a bracelet or necklace that would inform medical personnel in case of emergency.

Absolutely and an easy way to remember you are allergic to anything ending in cillin-- that is how they classified those types of antibiotics.
