Do u know any way that ppl can stay in the states legally... My friend just finished college with a student visa, but he doesn't want to go back.... Any ideas (besides getting marry with an American)?

INS will help them out. Go to the INS office and talk to them. They'll be happy to do what they can.

Well, he could go to the Naturalization service (Immigration office) in his state and apply for citizen. If he has legal reason's, why he does not want to go back to his country ( like victim of war crimes, or victim of turtor , or victim of inhumanity on humans), if he follows under these guidelines, he can get granted to stay. He should address this with an immigration attorney. If he can't afford an attorney he can ask for one through the legal system .

Get a work permit through the college. A friend of a friend from Canada did that. You have to get a job in your degree field though.

he must be your boyfriend for you to nix the marry idea, now here is one that could save both of you -join the ARMY - if he got a degree they need and he is not some peace corps whiner the Army could be your best bet ,they need helpers and he needs citizenship,right?
