she's a coworker (i'm only a seasonal worker for christmas and new years). she sent a text message to my phone sayin that she liked me and wanted to be more than friends. after i read it, i started to have lots of anxiety, my heart rate went up, and i was beginning to panic. I texted back that i was shy, and have never even been on a date and that this was all new to me. She will probably call in a couple minutes after work, and i'm kinda scared.

It's ok to be scared and shy.
Meet up with her as soon as possible.
It's important to spend time with her just doing stuff like walking on the beach or watching the sunset or gazing into her eyes until your heart melts.
Don't be afraid if you have sexual urges just control them, ignore them and find other things to think of like flowers of cars or her eyes or something.

Play it cool dude, let a bit of confidence exude and you'll get through it alive. Just think positive, maybe about how you'll one day be in the middle of a happy relationship with her and be thinking back to this moment.

first of all, do you like this girl?

seems to me, you see this opportunity as a chance to finally have a girlfriend (not that im saying its wrong)

... but you need to make sure you're into her ...

if you are, then be casual about it ... if she calls you up, making plans to go out, then go ahead. ... no pressure really. :)

good luck and have fun! :)

look, she'll understand your problem if she really likes you. besides, girls like 'shy guys' , be casual and start talking to her about anything that she seems interested in, after that, say "would you like to go out to dinner with me this saturday?" if she accepts, SCORE! you just won yourself a girlfriend!

just be cool. she may take control, and if she does then let her. chat her up and ask her things about herself. What do you know about her? Tell her you like her to, and ask her out, see where she'd like to go, to a movie, or dinner, or over to your place?
