No, it will not fry your hair. Ask the person who is dying it if the chemicals can damage or ruin your hair. Also ask if they have any products at the salon that will keep your hair smooth and shiny, like special conditioners or masks. You could use a natural dye (semi-permanent), but since you have dark hair, it probably won't work. If you dye it too much and too often however, it can damage your hair. It can also cause gray hair at a young age.

Personally I would ask friends for referrals first. Dark brown hair tends to be coarse &/or porous meaning there's a greater chance of a mess up when going lighter. I would make a soap cap of shampoo & hydrogen peroxide 4/1 ratio on all your hair while dry. Let it set for about 15 mins. under a plastic cap. Then wash & rinse throughly. Dry it & see how it looks. See any damage? If so you can count on there being more because if you go from dark to light peroxide (or it's equivalent) has to be used to get it lighter than what you want first, then toner applied to get it the right shade. Depending on whether you have a red or green base to your natural color will also affect how light you have to go before the toner will take in the proper shade. I'm a retired beautician & I specialized in color work. You wouldn't believe how many screw ups I've had to fix because someone or even their previous beautician didn't take into count their base color, porosity, texture, etc. Most anymore rarely even take a sample test if ignorant of the other. If you had a pic on site I could probably tell you more. But this is the most important things to consider.

Your best bet is to go to a salon, do NOT attempt to do this at home! I have naturally dark brown hair and have colored it many, many colors including medium blonde... don't worry, just make sure you go to a quality place! Good luck!!!

No, it will not fry up your hair unless you get it bleached every six wks for a long long time. This won't hurt your hair. Just get a good shampoo and conditioner as well as a good leave in conditioner too. You're hair will look great

no it wont if you do it only once. but you will have to touch your routes alot. and that can be expansive. and if you buy the dye yourself it can come out a different color
i would keep your color
and just get alot of highlights of the color you want
