It's not a prescription, it was over the counter. It is 220mg tabs. I haven't taken three, I was just curious... and I drank a glass of water.

I don't know, I usually will take three to four tylenol and it says not to and nothing bad has ever happened. I think it would take taking an exorbitant amount over the recommended dose for your prescription(or mixing) to cause any really bad effects. If the symptoms persist, then at the next interval bump up the dosage or don't wait for the next interval and just take 1 or 2 more now. I'm not a million %, but I'm pretty sure you'll be fine.

As far as the water goes, its probably because the sodium dehydrates your body a bit and dehydration can cause headaches and other annoyances so just drink the water. The more you take the more water you'll need. You can't overdo the water part but just do it since it's not that hard to gulp down a glass or two of water.

To what the people says about a prescription was written for a reason. Everyone's body chemitsry is different and if you were to go to your doctor or call him tomorrow and say, "It doesn't seem like the dosage is working," he would most likely bump it up. A doctor may give a prescription based on a formula for weight, pain, etc... but it not exact and if the symptoms persist give the doc a call and let him know if you're not sure about bumping up the dosage yourself.

You could also call a 24 hour Walgreens and ask a pharmacist what the ramifications may be to upping the dosage with that particular drug.

Naproxen is in a class of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). NSAIDs tend to be harsh on the stomach, liver, and kidneys. You should never exceed the recommended daily dosage without speaking to your physician first. The maximum daily dosage for over the counter Naproxen (such as Aleve) is 220mg twice per day and no longer than 10 days, without direction from a physician. The water is very important. Usually you will take NSAIDs with milk. This will help to relieve stomach pains if you are sensitive.

I take Naproxen if my back is acting up or other pain I might have. If you want to take 3, then your doctor would prescribe you the 300mg tablets. You must be on the 500mg tablets? That's why it only takes 2. Do not overdose yourself as these meds can be harmful to your liver.

They are telling you that for the sake of your liver. And there is no conspiracy to keep you in pain - so take as directed. And drink the darned water because it will help the medicine get in your system faster, and do its job better.

Yes those would be the directions and they are extremeley important to follow. If you take three pills insteaf of two then that is overdosing and can cause major problems which can include death so please do what the instructions tell you to do!

When medicines give you the recommended dosage, it's best not to exceed that dosage because certain side affects may occur.

why take an extra one? You're body will just reject it. They prescribe certain dosages for a reason.

They wouldn't spend the time to write these things out for you if there wasn't a reason.
Follow the directions, please!
