Considering the only options I would prefer to pick a pair myself, preferably with the lowest wide heel boot possible, then wear them with a longer pair of trousers to cover them up.
I got stuck 10 miles from home with a girlfriend once, we had no money for a cab, thank god I was wearing long trousers at the time!!!

Well...depends where. In a normal pub or restaurant...then no! But in a fetish club, or somewhere liberal, say the gay district in Berlin or somewhere similar...then yes. We would both go together to pick them.
