my dog was being annoying on xmas eve so we locked him up in his crate and ignored him. he started digging and digging and digging. as he dug at the door, he was ripping his nails- breaking a few of them to the point of bleeding.
is there anything that I need to do for his injured nails?
or will they heal on their own?

If you have iodine or betadyne, it would help keep his nails from becoming infected. . You can wash with warm water, to which a teaspoon of salt has been added per cup of water..
Just watch for any signs of infection, and if they become hot and swollen, get him to a vet quickly.
Aloe gel, Shea butter, or emu oil would aid healing.

Just keep an eye on them to be sure they are healing alright. If he is limping or spending alot of time licking them, might be time to let the vet check them out to be sure no infection is there.

By the way, he should be getting use to being in a crate so that this won't happen again. Try putting him in his crate for short periods of time and praise him when he does not dig. Lengthen the time gradually until he realizes that being in the crate is not a punishment or something that should upset him. I suggest you let his paws and nails heal first though.

No offense to anyone using this website, but whe're not medical experts ( and if you are, good 4 u! ) I suggest you consult a medical expert if you don't see any signs of improvement in the first week. If they get infected, I suggest you go get him de-clawed.

well i think they will be fine but i think its prolly on pain...but i think there used to it since they dig all the time so they will most likely heal on their own

If they are still bleeding you can put quikstop on them. If not they will be fine.
