I was told that W-9 was neccessary for in-home care for my kids since I work overnight and will eventually pay my own taxes. CCIS will give me a check monthly... I then have to pay my child care provider AND PAY MY OWN TAXES... HELP! I need to write off whatever I can!

You need the help of a tax professional. Folks doing what you do are ripped off by the system each year because they do not know how to file a proper tax return. You appear to have a number of issues that handled property should give you a pleasant surprise when you learn what your refund will be.

No, you can't write off your rent or car lease expenses.

You'd be able to write off child care expenses, but only the amount that isn't subsidized - you can't double-dip.

It sounds like you need the help of a tax professional (like a CPA - NOT H&R Block) to get you started on all this, unless CCIS provides very detailed instructions on what you have to do. Once it's all set up and you have a pattern to follow, the following years you can probably do it yourself.

Good luck.

you can claim a credit against your tax for Child Care Expenses - see IRS Form 2441.

You can't write off personal expenses - only expenses that are directly related to your trade or business and that are not commuting in nature.
