cat is feral?/stray - started hanging around my house and found she had litter of 4 abour 3 weeks old. Caught kids and Momma and kept them in a vacant play house til cool temps arrived. Now their in my house. Fleas are gone, coats appear/feel healthy, kittens are playful and Momma is much more socialable and relaxed than she was initially but I've taken them to 2 different vets and can't eliminate them. One vet diaganosed round, then with stool check #2 diagnosed Capilaria. Second vet diagnosed still had round worms. I'm worming all at same time so worms should be getting wormer everywhere, but they're still reporducing apparently. Momma hasn't been outside since September, but she did bring home the kids a kill then, but I wouldn't allow her to take it in the house I was keeping them in til she escaped one day. But 2 days later, she walked right back in her house while I held the door open. This is the 3rd worming and the first time blood has been spotted - 6 mo - menstrating?

You need to make sure each othe vets is fully aware of the tests that the other ran, the diagnosis, and the treatment. Certain periods of time MUST elapse in between treatments to prevent over exposure to medicine. The vet needs to know about the blood IMMEDIATELY. If it is just in the momma cat, it may be more irritable bowel caused by the stress of all of the treatments, or overtreatment that is causing the blood. If there is a horrible odor (beyond normal) to her poop, there may be giardia (sp?) which require an antibiotic. Capilaria is a worm found in the urine and is very rare, so unless your vet was checking the urine, I would be surprised if that was true. Make sure you are giving the wormers time to work and change the litter as often as possible - worms are spread by contact with fecal matter.

If you already brought a stool sample to the vet and everything tested fine, it could be colitis. My cat has colitis and if it's acting up he has to go on a special bland food. Has your cat ever had parasites? That can sometimes cause colitis in cats. Does it seem to flare up when the cats is upset, like if you don't come home one night, or right after company leaves? Does she get diarrhea before she has the blood or with the blood? One the other hand, does your cat get hairballs, and are her stools very dry and hard, if so, it is probably hemorrhoids. Are you sure it's in the stools and not the urine? If the bood is in her urine, it could be any number of probems. If the urine has been tested and she doesn't have any infections, it could be stones or crystals in the bladder or kidneys. If your vet isn't being more helpful and informative, it may be time for a new vet.

Female cats do have periods for a couple of days. If the cat still have worms it needs to be seen by the vet. You and your kids can get the worms from the cat.

Menstruation doesn't happen to cats, so that's out of the question. Feed her something light like boiled chicken for a few days, to calm her intestines, and give her a good wormer, like Drontal (the pill), and then repeat after 10-14 days. Good luck.
