I think a have serious mental problem... when I go out in public and see rich people I get really angry. It's not jealousy, it's just something that happens to me... if I could become one of them, honestly, I wouldn't want to. I just think the society ought not to be so... sophisticated. I want everything just to be simple, nothing out of the ordinary. I don't think people should have to look and act different... so basically, I hate uniqueness. I'd much rather have everybody look the same and act the same. No rich people, no poor people, no ugly people, no pretty people. I know, I have issues... I think I really need help! But I don't want to go see a doctor about this, I'm not very good with strangers... I want to do this myself... is is even possible?

I don't think it is a serious mental problem.
It sounds like you have a problem with change. You want everything to be the same so that life is simple and nobody has problems.
And think about how boring life would be if everyone were exactly the same, everyone would have the same opinion on everything so what would you have to talk about?
Everyone would want the same job so the world wouldn't beable to progress in technology, fassion, food and everyone would want the same things in general.
Could you imagine walking around everyday looking like everyone, your parents, siblings or even your partner. EEEK !!!
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but don't you just think wanting everyone to be exactly the same is going a little too far.
Think about it.......

Learn to respect diversity. For your information, everybody is unique. You need a lesson in tolerance. Sophistication has got nothing to do with money or gadgets (or being rich enough to afford them); there are people who have the latest ipods, but are no better than apes. It is quite possible to be both sophisticated and simple.
(read the dictionary definition of "sophistication" before using the word again.)
Why do you get angry when you see rich people? Sounds like you have hidden issues.
(Your question sounds like you are trying to fake a problem or probably have some ulterior motive/hidden issues. It lacks the correct flow of logic. Even though your question seemingly talks about hating the rich, it seems to me that you really like them, as you call them "unique" and "sophisticated" -- words almost always used in a positive context. What exactly is your problem?)

Start with being honest about the fact that you resent people who have things you dont - (resent means anger, or feelings of insecure outrage) then start the process of asking yourself WHY?
I had the same problem. I lived in a very wealthy area - but I was the poorest kid in class. I had my own breed of arrogance. F**k em, they are not better than me! was my reasoning. However, truth be told - I was upset that I didn't have the things that they had - and was bitter that I had to "make due" with what I did have. Course, I know that looking back on things twenty years ago now.
Just start asking yourself, what am I so insecure about? (ah! I suspect your like me, and you find that question irritating. What do you mean insecure?!?!? ) I suspect you hate uniqueness because you are troubled by attention. Right, youre not unique in that way....
Keep a diary, and ask yourself questions all the time. If a question makes you really uncomfortable - its most likely hitting close to home, and making you identify some of your "issues" which are really nothing but false beliefs.
Good Luck

I dont think u have a mental health issue.. I think ur pretty normal. To wish and want all ppl to be on a level field, i dont see anything wrong with that. There would be no more ppl blowing their money on "bot-ox" and there would be no more ppl looking through garbage cans for food. I think that would be heaven on earth. Ppl r ppl, doesnt matter what they do we r all the same. When u look deep down at all of us, that is exactly what we all r... just ppl. Each one of us looking to make the best out of life, the best out of the hand that is deal to us. What's wrong with that picture.. nothing. Great unique thinking my friend.. and u said u didnt like uniqueness..

what u hav is vey common, it happens to a lot of people, it is the sense of inequality and unfairness.a lot of people get this wen they see animals or birds in cages.deep inside, you dont hate uniqeness, you hate difference from you.this dosen't mean that you like things your way and that yur bossy it just means that you like things one way and wuld not change them.on the other hand if no one was rich, poor, ugly, or pretty, we'd all be perfect because there'd be nothing to compare ourselfs with.think about it it might help yuo, and by the way you dont have a mental problem in any way. you just think about things differently and thats a good thing, and yur probably very smart and intelligent.keep on keeping on

I can relate to what you've said, believe it or not, and I think it is a type of paranoia. I think the differences regarding non-conformity are threatening and make you anxious. I, like many others have said, think you should go to a doctor who would most likely prescribe anti-anxiety meds. Sounds like you have anxiety about seeing a doc too, but if you don't, your thoughts could spiral downward to a point where they are no longer just an annoyance, but could become harmful for you. Please follow this advice and good luck.

Is it possible to treat yourself? Sure. Is it likely you'll get better with self-treatment alone? I wouldn't bet on it. To overcome this, you'll have to put yourself through what's called cognitive therapy--learning to first monitor and then change your negative thought patterns. You can try to do this yourself, but in all likelihood, you will need the expert guidance of a qualified specialist to teach you how to do it correctly and then help you to stay on track with it.
Are you good with your GP? If so, call him or her and explain that you'd like a referral to a mental health specialist, but that you are a bit shy and want to see somebody who's nice. Your GP may ask you to come in for a consultation before they refer you to someone, but the bottom line is that a good doctor will never judge you, laugh at you, or belittle you. They have seen and heard it all and are usually more concerned with helping you than anything else.
Good luck on your journey to wellness, and feel better.

i could advise that your buddy seeks help from a Counsellor extremely than a Psychiatrist or a Psychologist first . Even going to the physician and discussing it with them will help in looking out the place the difficulty all started from and then if he mandatory to be sure any of the different 2 Professions, He could be referred for help . the difficulty had to start up from someplace and that is dealt with then the will cope with it . i'm so sorry that he feels this sort . desire it somewhat is of a few help to you ] Take care Knell 22

You sound intelligent and capable. Perhaps your thoughts and views are a mere smoke screen for something deeper, more troubling. You must really explore who you really are. Perhaps the rich and priviliged only symbolize a hurt from your past? Your youth? The fact you are talking about it, albeit on the site, is a good thing. Keep working.
