My husband and I really want to purchase a pure Boxer puppy. Any idea on cost for a pure breed. Also any ideas for a reputable breeder where we can get a puppy? We live in Virginia.

Price for a boxer puppy can vary from $800 to $3,000, depending on location and availability. From my experience dealing with pedigree dogs, females are more expensive than males. Doing plenty of research before you decide you really want a bull dog would be the best thing to do, so you know the pros and cons of owning one (no surprises!)
If you have the heart, give a rescue bull dog a second chance :) (friend adopted a boxer female from rescue and paid $300).

I own the BEST Boxer in the word. I spent 7 years researching the breed.... breeders, going to dog shows, ... I hear so much about how much people spent! Crazy. LEARN the breed.. read everything at Boxerworld.com Health issues, training, everything.
Do the homework and you'll get more answers than you know.
It will save you from $$ to a breeder... OR... $$$ in vet bills later.
A good breeder will do genetic health testing to try to keep Boxer specific health issues out of the blood line. (saves you $$ and heartache)
A breeder to look for is one who shows. It's not just all about "AKC" papers. That is just a dog registry and doesn't guarantee a THING about the dog itself.

I live in VA.,too! I just bought a Boxer puppy for my 4 year old daughter. I got an excellent deal on my big boy! He was ONLY $200!! They don't have anymore though!! Sorry!! Where do you live in VA.? I looked in the Roanoke Times newspaper. There are some more ads in there for Boxer puppies but i think they are like $600! If you just keep looking in there you may find one for about $300 to $400!! You're right Chetco, Tug and Clay are beautiful dogs. It would make ones heart feel good to rescue a dog that needs a loving home and owner. To answer you ?? check out some Boxer rescues, you can usually find all ages. Good luck on your search.

have you looked into a rescue? just type "boxer rescue VA" into your search engine of choice. Please help the ones that are in need! You may have to do a little more leg-work, but the reward will justify the means. Whatever money you would be spending on adoption fees will go to the shelter or rescue. As if that wasn't convincing enough, it will probably be cheaper as well!

Hi, I I'm from Pa.almost in N.Y. only 3 miles this side of state line. I paid $450.00 for my 2 year old female as a puppy. But I bought mine from my nephew. Love her to death. I'm trying to have mine bead now...first 2 heats didn't take. But when she does I'm asking $450.00 females $400.00 males. You also need to know when you buy your puppy if BREEDING RIGHTS are RE-STRICKED...some ppl get that kind of money out of there dogs and still stop you from BREEDING yours. have you tried the Boxer Rescue group, they will have pure bred
boxers of all ages
i grew up with boxers, beautiful dogs, smart, clean and dedicated
to their owners

AKC website lists breeders and puppyfind.com is good for finding pups for sale. Prices vary from breeder to breeder, state to state & AKC vs CKC.
