Going on a walk with a girl.. How do i find out what she wants in a guy without coming on too strong?

So im going to a new years party, there wont be any drugs or anything like that its just a celebration sorta thing. Im planning on talking to the girl who invited me and asking her on if she wants to take a walk (to get to know her better) after i gain her trust and humor in the group of people, so she is comfortable. Sounds like a plan so far right? (if not let me know) But the question is, when we are taking a walk, should it be long, short, etc, and what should i talk to her about? I mean obviously i want to get to know her, but i specifically want to know what she wants in a guy. How can i work that into a conversation without coming on too strong? Member i dont want to seem needy, i just want to be non chalant and confident (basicly what women want). So should i start with small talk, keeping the subject on her and keep her talking about herself, listen to her and ask questions about what she says, then shift it into a kind of "what kind of things do you look for in a guy?" topic?

I can just picture myself not saying it in the right way and her taking it awkwardly. But then again i need to have her trust before i get personal right? Anyway, How can i talk to her about what she looks for in a man? and ALSO! how do i come off like I am interested but open, like not needy or desparate? thanks

Listen, you've got a large part of this right. Let her do most of the talking. Talk only to keep the conversation back on her. Do not talk much about yourself. Listen. See if she tells you. DO NOT ask her what she's looking for in a guy. You'll show your hand. Let her do the talking. If you've got what she's looking for, you'll know. If you don't, why ask? The less talking you do, the more confident you'll seem. Do not ask her when you can see her again. Wait five days to call her. If you ask her out, ask for a weeknight, not a weekend. Let her wonder what you're doing on the weekend.

If she's agree's to take a walk alone with you you're half-way there. Ask her where she wants to walk, she will probably say she doesn know / care, which again, is a good sign (shows she hasnt really wanted to walk, just wanted to do something with you). Keep the conversation light, humerous, it should be about something she knows a lot about, so you can ask a lot of questions and she can give you a lot of answers! Throw in a compliment, just a light one like, "you have a cute nose" she will hopefully compliment you back even if its something like "you have nice ears" then you ask "ahh, is that what you look for in a guy, cute ears?" she will hopefully say no, then ask "well, what do u look for?" and so on, just let it flow brother, let it flow

if you want to get to know her sound interested, dont sound noesy just make small talk. obviously your going to a party so start out talking about that and then slowly ask quest. dont get too personal and if she likes you, and you start dating then each time ask more and more.

You need to be more interested in what you want in a girl-friend. If you're not her type of guy, then it's hopeless to try to change yourself to fit her mold, anyway.
