Many Christians do feel threatened by new ideas, particularly new scientific discoveries. In the future, if the world lasts that long, Christians will look back and wonder why many in the church could not accept evolution as God's method of creation.

Quite a few people that believe in all or any faiths are threatened from new ideas from other people! This is not uniquely Christian way of responding to new ideas!

Christianity has survived attacks on every front for hundreds of years so not much will make a dent now that there are more Christians on the planet than ever in the history of man. Sure some get defencive and concerned at silly laws being passed by short term thinkers but new ideas is what makes people so special and I for one welcome them. New ideas are great providing they work in terms of improving society and not adding another burden to the masses.

No, not at all. Some non-believers are feeling threatened when we want to remind them about the old ideas, the ones that can change your life around.

On the contrary, I also read the Qur'an, and I seize most opportunities I get to speak with Jews and/or Muslims.
Although I'm a little biased against the scientific community (even though I'm going into engineering)--mainly because I often sense a bias on their behalf against religion--I still read their contributions and their new ideas.
However, I do not hold all Christians to this same responsibility. "Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more." (Luke 12:48, ESV)
With that, I do not force my opinion on them (although I do make it known), and in return I ask they don't force their opinions on me.

Not just Christians, all religious people. That's why religions fall behind the times. There is one religion that is stuck in the 11th century and they can't figure out a way to get un-stuck.

I don't know, I certainly don't feel "threatened"- do atheists feel threatened by Christians confidence and security in their beliefs? what is your definition of threatened? what kind of behavior would denote that someone is feeling threatened? Just because they share their beliefs and are immovable in their faith??

The Bible has proven for 2000 years to teach the correct way to live. When pop culture teaches our children a different set of values this is threatening.

King Solomon said it best
"There is nothing new under the Sun; Vanity, all is vanity"
It is not a new idea to "threaten Christianity". It's an age-old lie to keep you from the Truth that resides ONLY in Jesus.
