It's a benzodiazepine so it needs to be withdrawn gradually. Suddenly stopping it can cause withdrawal symptoms, even severe ones like seizures. Withdrawal from this class of drugs is similar to alcohol withdrawal which can have severe and even life-threatening symptoms. You really need to talk to a doctor or another health care professional on how to withdraw safely from this drug. If you've had a long-term addiction after the withdrawal you should get counseling and go to a support group.

I try not to take it too often, but noticed during the holidays I have been taking 1/3 of one 3-4 times weekly. Not sure how many mg I'm taking, but I know xanax comes in white (lowest mg), peach (med.strength) while the blues are the strongest mg.
I'm sorta in the same boat your in. Maybe do what I'm thinking of.....go talk w/your doc about a different type of med to relax that isn't addictive OR AS addictive. And talk yourself into putting a good limit on any med or as prescribed by your doctor.
Sometimes during the winter one inclined to get the mildly depressed...they have those special lamps (lights) that have bulbs similiar to sunlight to help w/the blues. Or exercise more to let those endorphins put you into a good mood and get healthy :o) hope this helps u!!

I know. It sucks. I think I'm addicted sometimes too. We can't help you. You need help from a professional. Tell your doctor. This is very common & they know how to handle the situation.
