Does anyone know of a free web site or a chat group that could offer me some immediate advise? She's being treated for a virus with antibiotics but she doesn't seem to be responding. She became sick all of a sudden on Christmas day.

If it's a virus, antibiotics won't help.

If it's bacteria, antibiotics take time to work, they don't kill everything within 24 hours.

Did you go to an emergency service or to her regular vet? If her own vet hasn't seen her, make an appointment.

More important than anything, if she is not responding, you need to take her back to the vet or at least call them. Keep in mind as well, that, just like humans, it takes a few days for animals to start feeling better after starting an antibiotic. She may just be dehydrated and in need off IV fluids. If she is being treated with antibiotics, she probably may have started off with a virus and ended up with a secondary bacterial infection (your vet would have to have done a blood and or urinalysis to determine this. If they did not they are shooting in the dark and you need another vet!). If possible, please provide more information on her symptoms and what your vet did. If you are uncomfortable or unsatisfied with the answers your vet is giving, do consider another vet. You can also look up on some of the University websites to see if they have any consultation services - I was once able to call Cornell University, provide my cat's list of symptoms and spent 30 minutes on the phone with a feline expert for only $50. Some known for their veterinary care are Cornell University and the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Also, check for the national Golden Retriever club and any Golden Retriever rescues in your area (quick searches online)

Antibiotics will not cure a virus. Go to a different vet. Have they said where the virus is? What kind of tests have they run?
