For shows such as Rent, usually how many people try to enter each lottery to buy the $20 tickets? How far in advance should I arrive at the box office, and what are my chances on an average day?

For the RENT lottery it really depends on who is in the show at the time. I know a friend went last week and said she had no problem getting the lottery tickets because she was the only one that showed up and put her name in!

For most shows, the lotteries are done two hours before the show. It doesn't matter how early before that you show up, because they let all the people that show up put their names in. So even if you show up five minutes before they stop taking names, you will still be okay.

Here is the best list of lottery rules:

Depends day to day and show to show. Can't hurt to go to the box offices and ask. If you don't get the $20 tix, ask about other cheap tickets or go toTKTS for half-off (likely $40-70)
