They are not humorous. It seems they do not know how to laugh at jokes. They never smile, in fact, come to think of it, I have never seen them give a genuine smile.
I also found out most can be mean when you get to know them.

I might add that these ladies NEVER married for whatever reasons, nor do I recall them having boyfriends either.
The jokes were spontaneous about things occurring when I happen to be around them. Most other people would have given a chuckle or at least a big smile. Not these ladies.
And I didn't search out these ladies, one is my Aunt! The others through contact with my work.

I also notice that! I think it's pure envy! If they just understood that we just want to be friends! It would be nice if they would lighten up, and realize they are really missing out on life with their negative disposition!!!

You cannot generalise that way. Think of great ladies like Mother Teresa or Florence Nightingale or Sister Nivedita and others. Have you seen any photograph of Mother Teresa ? Her smile is one of the most beautiful of all smiles.
But these ladies have found a way to do something really joyful.
Your observation is perhaps true to some extent for others who are not so lucky. They are unmarried, and old. They are lonely. They have nothing to gain from this society. They don't have the generosity to devote their lives for the benefit of their fellow human beings. They are jealous towards their neighbours who live a happy and contented life. All through their lives they tried unsuccessfully to find a source of joy. Since they are unsuccessful, they cannot stand people who are successful. That makes them mean. That makes them unsmiling.

We are lonely and bitter. We've been screwed by love and we're mad at the world. Ok, I'm just kidding. I'm only 23, so I hope I'm not a lonely old woman yet. Some of these women might have been wronged in the past so they stay really guarded so they won't be hurt again.

I think you shouldn't generalise so much. I know some lovely older ladies who are unmarried and then there are some younger married ladies who are a nightmare to be around. it depends on the woman, not her age or marital status. Some people don't ever smile, it's just sthe way they are, don't let it bring you down.

Most of the time, if you listen to what they are saying, and think of things from their point of view, you will see that they are only looking out for you. If they are older and unmarried then they are most likely lonely, and you should try showing them affection. be nice to them and after a while, they will return the favor.

they grudge over the fact that they don't have someone who should be giving them love and security. its not easy being alone when you're old, specially when youre a lady and hormones are getting into your skin. i have an aunt who is just like that. Now im trying my best to find her a mate so she'll finally be happy and shall see things in a better perspective.

Sounds like you've had some bad experiences with older unmarried women. I know that when a man & a woman BOTH get older, they can get a bit more grouchy, but alot of that has to do with maybe, them hurting & aching much more.

I think they just become a bit bitter on men in general
I have a friend who is a bit like that - a few too many relationship disasters and now she has become a bitter woman who cant seem to smile - very sad ..
Guess we just have to feel sorry for them eh'

Maybe they simply don't find you humorous? Maybe your jokes are old worn out tomes that have been around for far too long? And maybe the ones you THINK you know you really don't know.
