My skin almost feels like it hurts for ANYTHING to touch it, like even clothing or even a light breeze blowing by. I feel like I've had this all of my life, and seems worse in the morning, especially if I don't get enough sleep. I don't know what to do as everyone, including doctors, seem to think I'm crazy, but I just want to know I'm not alone. I'm a healthy 27 year old male and have had this problem as long as I can remember. Do you have any suggestions on what this could be? Some days it takes everything I have just to get out of bed because the extreme changes in temperature, like a shower, from hot to cold, make it really bad. It actually HURTS to wear clothes and to feel something touching my skin. Am I crazy?

No, you are not. It sounds like a sensory problem of some sort. Does this sound like you?

TACTILE DEFENSIVENESS(hypersensitivity to touch/tactile input) WILL AVOID TOUCHING, BECOME FEARFUL OF, OR BOTHERED BY THE FOLLOWING:

textured materials/items

"messy" things

vibrating toys, etc.

a hug

a kiss

certain clothing textures

rough or bumpy bed sheets

seams on socks

tags on shirts

light touch

hands or face being dirty

shoes and/or sandals

wind blowing on bare skin

bare feet touching grass or sand

You may want to see an occupational therapist. They deal with sensory issues. Don't give up trying to find the answer. If one doctor doesn't believe you, keep searching until you find one who is concerned and willing to get to the root of your problem and help you.

No you are not crazy, either you've had the flu for a long time and it should go away soon, or... this other option is a lot less easy to deal with... you could have a disease/disorder (can't remember exactly which it is) called Lupis. My mom has it, it is not contagious and it could last from two years to life. You will feel very achey, and it is very unpleasant... you will have to talk to your doctors to know for sure, there are several other things it could be... my mom had several different diagnosis so I couldn't tell you positively.

You might have fibromyalgia. My best friend has it and she describes it the exact same way. You are not crazy. It is really rare but more people are getting it and many doctors have not taken the time to research it enough to accurately diagnose it.

Sounds like multiple chemical sensitivity. Do you notice your sense of smell is acute? How about laundry soaps and perfumes,do they give you headaches? How about allergies to lots of things? It sounds like your system is in a chronic state of inflammation. I have this disorder and lots of others do also.

I don't think you're crazy. I've heard of some condition like this that women can get, so why can't men.
