Try priceline.com. If you know for sure the dates that you are traveling will not change, they have excellent deals. Once purchased though they are not refundable or exchangeable. you make an offer on the price you want to pay for a round trip ticket. For example if you are flying from atlanta to memphis leaving dec. 29 and returning Jan 1 and the cheapest flight you have found is say $300 +tax then you can offer (for example) $150 + tax and if your offer is accepted they will inform you of your flight schedule and what airline you are flying after your price is accepted. I have gotten tons of great flight discounts doing this, but like I said, you have to be absolutely certain of your dates and that you are actually going because you cant change it once you purchase it.

Good luck! You are trying to travel on very short notice and your return trip is on New Years Day which is one of the busiest travel days of the year. You are going to have a very hard time finding a bargain no matter where you look.
