It would be very helpful if you know what´s your learning style. For example, i´m a very auditive person and i pay hard attention to class, so i don´t need to write every little thing teachers say, i just take notes of important things and then at home i check them and remember the rest. It´s very important to review at home what you study in class daily, and if any doubt comes to your mind you will have time enough to ask your teacher or any classmate. If you do this, you won´t have to study everything the night before the test. Also, you don´t need to study for hours without any break or interruption. Read, take a break (listen to music, watch some tv, rest, have a snack) and go back to your books.
