Campaign work?
I can only imagine that once the candidates come out and announce they will need a vast network of individuals working for them in any large number of states. Living in New York City, I would really like to have a paying job that allows me to work on a national-candidate's campaign (a democrat or third party candidate). How do I go about doing this?

You should get involved in organizations that discuss politics, like the National Women's Political Caucus. You should also call your local congresman and chat up the staff: ask how they got involved.

People do get paid for this work, but it will mean either going to Iowa and New Hampshire or waiting until the early work gets going on New York.

What qualifications do you bring to the job? Have you ever worked on a campaign? Do you know anything about polling, or have you produced TV commercials? Do you have fund-raising experience?

If you could answer these questions "yes," you probably would not be in this forum. Therefore, I suspect you have little or no experience.

You will probably want to get involved with the local or state office of the candidate (or party) of your choice, as a volunteer. As the organization builds and the elections get closer, there will be a growing need for full-time, paid staff. If you have proven your dedication and ability, and you have made your availability known, you will be offered a job.

Unless you have experience organizing a campaign, or running local office, I doubt you will get a PAID position. The best place to start is to look up the party's local office and ask them what you can do.
