Have a look in a few bridal magazines. Maybe a friend has some you could borrow. I have picked up lots of ideas from them.

One that i thought was nice, was some seeds and seed raiser potting mix in a brown packet tied with a green ribbon with a little quote about LOVE from John Lennon.

This could be done quite cheaply and packaged in any colours (to match your wedding) with your choice of seeds. I'm thinking of doing this with bulbs ie. daffodils or tulips
good luck with it all, hope this helps

You can buy favor boxes or bags fairly inexpensively and put some M&Ms or Nuggets or just store bought chocolate in them. I personally like mints or chocolate mints because it allows people to cleanse their palates after dinner. You can get about 50 personalized favor boxes for under $25, and then spend the rest on the candy. I'm not sure of your guest count, but even if you need 100 you'll still have plenty left over to buy good candy. The website link below has 30% off coupons through the end of the year that will help you with the budget.

Go to a party supply store or on line and see what types of things they have that will give you ideas - making something would be a lot cheaper than buying ready made. I went to a wedding where the bride had donated to a charity and put notes at each place notifying the guests. I think that is a great idea because most people either leave their favor or throw it away when they get home. You could donate to breast cancer awareness and buy their bracelets and attach notes to them or some other creative idea.

1. Buy some fancy note paper with envelopes to match. Make stamps from lineoleum blocks (available at art supply stores) and stamp designs on the paper and envelopes.

2. Instead of candies, make pastries, like danishes, tarts, etc.

3. Check with a plant expert. If the climate of PR is right, give a seedling from a giant redwood tree. They grow very fast if you have the right climate and no competition from neighboring trees. You can buy them through http://www.froogle.com

4. Make potpourri. Search the Internet for instructions. Give them a couple pounds each.

5. Pay the wedding photographer to take portraits of them.

E-mail me with more information about the recipients and the tradition if you would like more ideas.

Get a plastic spoon and put a couple of Hershey's kisses on the bottom part and cover them with tulle tying with ribbon in your wedding color and a label that reads "A spoonful of kisses from the Mr. and Mrs" I went to a beach wedding and they had a little tiny beach pail with that quote cut out as a heart and pasted on the bucket. Little tiny seashells lined the heart and they put kisses in tulle and tied them with raffina? You could even get Hershey's in different colors

PS: good job in not getting candles! They're so boring and blah!

A wedding I attended had a small scroll on each plate tied with a ribbon. It read a thank you from the bride and groom for attending and that in lieu of favors a donation was being made to the American Cancer society. I thought it was well done and tasteful.

We're doing the same at our wedding. What is your budget like?

The I Do Foundation let's you donate $2 to charity for each of your guests and they send you a nice card with the person's name and the charity's name on it, as well as the couple's names and the wedding date. It's a nice keepsake, it's affordable and it's good karma. Oh yeah you can get a tax deduction on your donation too. Check it out:

You can usually buy these on eBay, or make them yourself.

Get some of those Hershey's nuggets candies and use Avery labels to make labels with your name and wedding date on them. Put a cute wedding-related picture on them too. Then, bundle them together in a piece of white, sheer or lacy fabric and a bow in your wedding colors and you've got a tasty, inexpensive wedding favor.

You can also do the same thing, but put a label on a box of TicTacs with the message "MINT to be together...Your names...Your wedding date"

There will be scoops, so the guest can pick and choose what type of candy they want to take with them you can look up candy buffet on the knot.

I'm giving out personalized matchbooks, with our names and the wedding date on them. You can do a google search for them and compare prices. I believe there is also a part of theknot.com that sells them.
