I would like to plan and design a good workout routine to do using jogging and lifting weights. I need all the information I can get about lifts and making a good beginner routine.

If you are just starting make sure to set goals that are achieveable. Maybe run twice a week and work out twice a week.

Start with the runs at about 1 mile and increase gradually to about 3 miles.

When working out determine if you want to increase in size or tone up. For toning use more repetitions at lower weight. Again, start slow and don't overdo the first few times--you might get discourgaged. Pick about 8-10 exercises and do 2-3 sets of 8-10 repetitions.

All this information can be found by using a google or yahoo search. This is not a new topic and there are lots of internet resources.

Throughout all of this, if you get lazy for a few days don't get discouraged. Just start again when you feel motivated.

Remember that you should make this a lifestyle change. Don't expect to work out for a few months then stop. You will have highs and lows for motivation.

Keep in mind that it's also important to have a proper diet. Choose more protein and less carbs, especially sugar. Stop drinking soda altogether. Most importantly stop the fast food. Educate yourself on proper nutrition and try tracking everything you eat for a while to understand what you are eating. Determine your daily caloric need and eat 500 calories a day less to lose 1 lb a week. Again use the internet for resources here.

Run, 4-6 days a week, not long distance but just ....run. Lift 3-5 days a week, the big 4: Bench Squat Dead lift Power clean.....mulitjoint exercises. Still do some isolation, but train the body. You are on the right track.
