I looked at the TSA and airline websites, and they don't have any packing hints. Do I just tape it up? Do I need to have string around it? Thanks for your help.

I tape mine and wrap ropes arount it so I can pull it out of the conveyer machine with ease. Sometimes at airport there is no one available as your luggae comes in from the conveyer belt, as far as TSA, if they need to open it, they normally will close it back for you.

As trykindess said, make sure it is securely closed... but the TSA can open checked baggage if they see something they suspect when they x-ray it. Make sure it is a sturdy box and things are pack so they are protected for rough handling.

I would also suggest checking with your airline. Some airlines restrict checking boxes to certain destinations... you don't want to arrive at the airport with your box only to find it can't go!
