She keeps growling, hissing and trying to scratch me. I can't get any where near her. What do I do?

Don't worry hun, she is feeling uncomfortable right now, just give her a few days and she will be feeling much better, let her come to you when she is ready.

It is not that she is mad, she is just sore and it unsure of what has happened, she will be fine when she has healed.

You did the best thing for her and you will be very happy with her as soon as she feels better.... GL M

My cat did that too to my sons, but she knew better than to do it to me, I am the boss in the house. I think she was in pain and the boys did not leave her alone. She was okay after about a week or so, back to her more normal self. I think being in the vet's office was traumatic for her though. For a few weeks afterwards, she would freak out if anything was out of place in my bedroom! Her tail would bush out and stand up on her back! I would have to calm her down and show her it was just a pile of clothes, or some books or whatever. Weird stuff.

I did call the vet's office when she chased my boys through the apartment growling and hissing. They said my cat was a vicious animal and I should have told them so before leaving her there! I told them nothing ever showed as her ever being vicious!

Anyways there's my story!

That doesn't necessarily mean that she's angry at you. Don't get me wrong, there are some very intelligent cats out there who would make the connection of you taking her to the vet and paying the bill afterwards, but I don't really think that's likely. She is probably just feeling like she needs some space and time to rest and heal. Put down some food and water for her, and let her be for a few days. Think of how you would feel after surgery. If she doesn't eat or drink, you should probably consult your vet. Happy New Year!

The cat is NOT angry with you... she just wants you to leave her alone for now... she isn't feeling in top shape (naturally) and must still feel a bit of pain from her surgery (my gosh - they took out her uterus!). Cats are stoic creatures and instinctively hide any vulnerability (in the wild, they cannot afford to appear vulnerable) ... the hissing and growling and pawing is her way of saying, "I'm NOT sick - just buzz off for now."

Just keep her in a warm, safe place where she can recuperate in peace... check up on her now and again... just speak to her softly... make sure her food and water bowl are nearby and that her liter box is accessible. She needs to be kept as calm now as possible. When she is feeling a lot better, she'll come to you in gratitude.

I've had a lot of cats and I've never experienced that before. She might just be feeling touchy because of what she's been through but she may also be in pain. I'd give the vet a quick call and see what s/he advises.

Stay away from her. DON'T buy her new toys. She's sore. Talk to her . Keep water close, food near , and wait for her to come around. 4 or5 days should be good. Play soft til she plays like she used to. About two weeks. Its major surgery for cats. Be nicer to her for a while. She'll love you till you die!

See previous answer.. I totaly agree with that.. Give her time. This is a shock to her. I have to wonder how old the cat for one.. Secondly, if this continues or you force yourself on her she will grow resentful towards you and that is not good. Time will heal this. Be patient. I know its hard but your patience and love will win out.

Just wait for her to come to you. She's had a rough couple of days, and she could still have some drugs floating around in her system. If she's eating and drinking okay, just let her be. She'll come back to you when she's relaxed a little.

Your cat is going to hold a grudge against you because you took her to be fixed and she remembers it. That is why when my animals have to go to the vet I have a friend take them.

Just give her time, as she starts to heal she will feel better and come back to you..
