No. It's a gentle gesture towards your date. I think it's appropriate and very charming. You can score good points with a girl by pulling out her chair. Just don't pull it out from underneath her =)

Since when did being polite become old fashioned? I love it when someone pulls out the chair for me.

Answer: No!
It's called being polite.
I used to ask myself the same question when It came
to opening doors.. especially car doors....
then closing them when your female companion is safely seated
inside.
Pulling a chair out is old fashioned...
and wonderful!!
Talk about respect!

It is polite. Some girls these days look at me funny when I do it, so I move on to the next. Most girls like it and say thank you.
Old fashioned? Perhaps.
Polite and correct? Definitely!

How do you wish to affect women???? Just to check it out, try opening doors for women you don't know--at the mall, at a restaurant, whereever, just smile and say, "Allow me." Watch their expression change and most will smile and be absolutely charmed. Car doors? Always! You should never be seated and a woman is standing. You always offer her a seat and only then may you sit. Is this old fashioned? Absolutely. Do women love it? Absolutely. It is so smooooooooth. M-m-m-m-m-m!

No, you are a gentleman who has manner.I do not think it is an old fashion. I always teach my kid to treat all women the same as you treat your mother. My son will grow up and has a happy life because, I prepare him to be a gentleman and a good husband in the future. Then no in law spite on top of my grave.

Wow...it sure is not "old fashioned" to me! I'd love for a guy to do that spontaneously just because he cares enough to let me take a seat first.

Some girls are comfortable with this, others are not. My husband was a gentleman and opened doors for me, and often (though not always) pulled out chairs for me. I loved this. It showed me that he respected me and that he considered me a "lady".

Respectful, polite behavior is never out of fashion. If your date doesn't appreciate it, find another date.

No by no means . It is just good manners. It is the proper thing to do. It will make a good impression on those that see you being so polite. Keep up the good work and God Bless.
