I believe in treating others the same way I would want to be treated, and I did my best to be polite and patient with others, and I would say that most people I encountered also treated me with respect in return. And yes, I did hold open doors and obliged others if they asked me for help, and I smiled at the clerks and asked how they were doing, and even wished a few people a "Merry Christmas" a long the way. I believe that how we treat others can create a domino effect. A kind word or act can brighten another's day and it's more likely that they in turn will have a kind word or smile for the next person they encounter, but when we are unpleasant, impatient, or rude to others, this will effect their mood and they will be far more apt to be rude (either intentionally or unintentionally) to the next person they see.

During the holiday season I always try to be extra nice to anyone who works at a restaurant or in retail, simply because I know from experience how horrible many people can be to those people at this time of year.
I even got caught in mall traffic for about 20 minutes at the same intersection and before I started road raging, I pulled off and browsed around Wild Oats Market for about an hour rather than lose my cool in traffic. I think I did everyone a favor that night.
Peace

I totally tried to raise people up, even when I was feeling less than charitable myself...

I know it sounds so totally like a "Polly Anna" thing to say but,

helping others feels good it is better than being rude

One lesson I did learn this season though...it is easier to be charitable to strangers than our own families and friends sometimes...

Peace!

I went to church and at my cousin and his wife's place, I helped to clean up after lunch, it was the least I could do for them after hosting a get together for over thirty people.

Honestly...I had a nasty fight with my mother in law on Christmas Eve. The lady simply hates me and so do I. Such is life!
