I know common sense didn't stop the "breathtakingly inane" theory from its 15 minutes of fame, but the Dover trial pretty much killed it, didn't it?

American ignorance is disgusting.

All those false claims, over and over. "Evolution means accident, scientists are abandoning it, there are many things wrong with it but we forgot what they are."

What's going on in american schools?

Here's one example: A christian said in this very thread: "science can still not explain how tree leafs change their color in the fall. No matter how far they break it down."

Here's a site for kids... it's got nice pictures, it explains it simply.

So either those christians are completely ignorant, or they keep lying for their gods.

Previous answers might try to have people believe its as simple as "Gee Just look around you!" and "Quantum Physics". I don't think that ID high school curriculum will have quantum physics. They want to teach that the Earth is 10,000 years old and a Supreme Creator made the Light from the stars that are millions of light years away simultaneosly with the stars as a way to explain the stars as young. This should be taught in religious classes but not science.

No way. Intelligent design is the wave of the future. Anything else is old, outdated and being exposed for the weaknesses they have. You must remeber that all human institutions , political, social, religous often become corrupt from within, this includes the instituoins of education, science and politics. Many people have agendas in this country. Do youtrust a man more because he wears a black robe? You can examine the evidnece too, and draw your own conclusion. Just because he came to one conclusion doesn't mean he was absolutley right, he is just a man. Second it was recentl;y reported that the Judge did a cut and paste job from a aclu brief when writing his paper about the verdict and his ruling. That is very unusual and denotes high dependency on others not indepent thinking. Anyway just more proof that men have wide associations and there are many groups in this country who find it in thereinterest to attack religion.

SCIENTISTS ARE NOT ACCEPTING ID. That is a vicious lie that that is being propagated. Hugh Ross is a disgrace to science, as are Behe and Dembski. EVERY major scientific professional organization has published a statement condeming the teaching of ID as science. It's not science. It's not a theory. It can't explain or predict anything, has no useful results, and the Discovery Institute hasn't published a single paper on it. Not one.

Do you mean vs the theory of evolution? Society is so clogged with all that stuff that they don't even listen to anything else there is to say about how the earth was created.

Well consider this, most scientists have found so many flaws in evolution with natural selection, incomplete chains, out-of-date fossils, cell beginnings, etc etc, that they don't even believe in evolution, yet are leaning toward creationalism. There have been so many text books out there with evolution, and in schools, that changing evolutionary ideas are hopeless. It's like trying to make America use the metric system. It makes sence, yet the majority of us use inches and feet.

YES! It's alive and well, just as is God!

Would you care to explain the "genetic information" in the core of DNA without there being an outside intelligence to bring it into being???

To believe it could happen by chance is like saying that if you dumped out a thousand scrabble games enough times, they would eventually form a Shakesperean sonnet with every letter of every word in place... and all "right side up!"

To be quite honest Intelligent Design is going stronger than ever. More Scientists are realizing that life is too complex to evolve merely by accident. As a matter of fact, Evolution is a bigger miracle than Intelligent Design.

Check the link below. It's to a site by Dr. Hugh Ross. He's one of the many scientists that have realized how believeable Intelligent Design is.

I think what keeps it alive for me is that I know that no one will ever be able to create a cell. If it is too hard for humans, then it can't happen by chance. I know that is a very loaded statement and a lot of people will disagree with me, but I am familiar with this topic and I feel comfortable taking a few thumbs down.

Some people do. Unfortunately a lot of people do. Have you seen the entire 139 page overview of the trial's background, the summary of the trial itself and the ruling by the judge?

http://www.pamd.uscourts.gov/kitzmiller/kitzmiller_342.pdf

Go there, it's worth the read.

P.S. Looks like a lot of folks here don't read anything or watch anything by Richard Dawkins. I think it would do them a lot of good... he's one of the most brilliant evolutionary biologist minds today but he can explain the hugely complex issue of evolution in terms that most laypeople can understand.

It also seems as though people are confused as to what "evolution" really is. People... evolution does NOT speculate as to the origins of existence or the origins of this planet. It doesn't even have a definite position on the origin of life on earth. I really really wish people would come to understand what evolution REALLY is before they argue against it instead of knocking down strawman after strawman.
