Losing weight by starvation is a dangerous idea. Your body needs food to survive. Starvation sends your body into shock-it can cause your organs to shut down or even lead to a coma or death. There are safe ways to lose weight without starving yourself. You need to find a dietician who specializes in weight loss to plan your meals.

Do not starve yourself....that is definately not the answer to a healthy way of losing weight. The things to do in order to lose weight are:
1) Exercise- try taking a walk in the park....or a run on the treadmill....even shopping in the mall with friends counts as exercise!!
2) Eat healthy- instead of the side of fries, try the steamed vegetables
You will not only lose weight but you will also feel that you tons more energy!

Yes, starving yourself is an EXCELLENT way to lose weight. At first you will not notice much of a difference. But stick with it, pretty soon you'll start looking slimmer. You will begin to get a few compliments from people about how great you look. It doesn't stop there, though. Keep not eating and you'll get even thinner. Soon, your body will start to basically eat your own muscles because it has nothing else to sustain it. At some point, your period will stop. You'll start to look like a toothpick. People will no longer compliment you because instead of being healthy-looking, you'll be sickly and pale. Oh, and remember how your body was eating your muscles? Well your heart is a muscle too, and once your hungry body runs out of biceps and glutes to eat, it will start to digest your own heart. Pretty soon you'll be dead, but hey, at least you'll be thin, right? So yes, I'd say that starving yourself is a great way to lose weight. Good luck!

Please read in full: You can indeed lose weight. This weight loss is from muscle mass that your body begins to eat up in order to try and keep you alive. You do not lose fat - the body stores the fat so that it can use it as energy to help keep your body alive. However, the more you starve yourself, the less muscle mass your body will be able to retain. People with Anorexia and Bulimia can die of many cardiovascular disorders for this very reason: eventually your body needs to eat away at whatever tissue it can find, your body weakens and doesn't have enough energy to even pump blood. You grow sick, weak, etc.; your body cannot fight off disease as easily, and so forth. The best way to lose weight is to eat healthy and exercise. You cannot be healthy and starve yourself.

Yes - you will lose a lot of weight very quickly.
THEN you will gain it all back because it's not physically possible to starve yourself forever.
It is so much better to adopt a healthy diet and exercise plan that you can realistically incorporate into your daily life.
And it's just not worth it to starve yourself. I'm 24 and suffered from anorexia for over 10 years. A heart attack, several hospitalizations, and a lot of tears later I've realized that it's just not worth dying to be thin...

You can lose weight by starving yourself. But the only weight you will be losing is not fat, but muscle and fluid.
Starving yourself can also lead to infertility and sometimes even death.
If you want to lose weight then you should do exercise daily and eat a healthy, nutritious, well balanced diet each day.

technically you will lose weight, but you will lose weight better if you eat normally (not pigging out, just 1200 cal a day) and EXERCIZE. This will work MUCH better and you will feel great and awesome. It you starve yourself you will feel perfectly MISERABLE!!!!!! There's the additional hitch that if you starve yourself then you will trick your body into thinking that its starving and it will shut down the metabolism, making you lose weight even slower.

That is the worst way because if you plan on starving yourself to lose weight then right when you eat again you gain twice the pounds you lose AND your metabolism slows down so it can store extra fat to be in starvation mode!
Healthiest way: ask your doctor!

Starving yourself? Hmmm ... I don't think Anorexia is a very healthy weight loss program. You end up losing weight because your body begins - and continues, to feed on itself.
Apart from which, starvation slows down your metabolism when precisely the opposite is required for healthy weight loss.
As others have answered - eat well and exercise regularly. The trick is to re-program your metabolism into fat-burning mode.
This is simple to do - in theory. In practice, avoiding a diet based on fast foods and chokkies isn't.
Neveretheless, limit fats to about 15-20% of total calorie intake, and do moderate exercise - 60-75% of your maximum cardiac output limit (age based) for a minimum of 35 minutes at least 4 days a week.
This stimulates the metabolism into fat burning mode. If you exercise at 80+% of your max. cardiac output, it's harder to burn fat.
This slightly modified Pritikin diet has always been a favourite of mine for effective, relatively fast AND healthy weight loss.
Good luck.
