I assume you talking about Iraq? Most of the time when people say Middle East you think of Palestine.
The war in Iraq is over. Now it's just a matter of stabilizing the government and making Iran keep their nose out of Iraqi affairs.
If we must send more troops over, then so be it. We under-estimated the role Iran and Syria would play in this war and now we need to correct that mis-calculation.
I have a son who has been there and things aren't as bad as the media makes it look. All the troops are proud of what they are doing and want the media and the politics to stay out of it so they can finish their job and come home.
We will need permanent bases there but that is not really a bad thing. We have bases in a lot of places.
I have no proof of this, but a look at a map of the area shows the strategic layout of where we are, it's hard to imagine that that is a coincidence.

We should not stay forever. We should let the military loose and end this thing like it could have been a long time ago. To many people wanting to punish these guys for the smallest things. They have split seconds to make a decision and if they have to worry about the smallest thing they will think twice and pay with their life sometimes. Let these boys loose to due what they were trained to do.

The war in Iraq is over. It was a spectacular success. The reconstruction is difficult, but the Administration is doing a pretty good job of it in light of the fact that most administrations couldn't deal with a job this tough. President Bush is staying the course for one reason: It has to be done. One can compare it to eliminating cancer. It has to be dealt with and the sooner the better. If the media and democrats supported the Chief Executive Officer of the United States much more progress would be made.

I think we should find everyone who voted for GW Bush and put them on a slow boat to Iraq. Once we have a few million Americans over there we should be able to turn it into a 'Little America' as we did Germany after WW-II. If the USA had all of Iraq's oil we'd be set for the next 50 years.

It's a complete disaster as most intelligent people with any knowledge of Iraq predicted.
There is now no solution that will not cost a lot more innocent lives, whether the occupying armies stay or leave.

I come from a military family, but I completely disagree with it. My father threatened to throw me out of our home if I ever made my opinion known, but i was 16 and that was some time ago. But let me say, my brother just got back from Iraq and he says that the men there are dedicated to this war till the people of Iraq can defend themselves and the government protects them.

As long as we occupy there, the terrorists will stay there and be occupied with killing troops, instead of civilians here. This is not a geo-political war, this is an attempt to exterminate all Americans. If you are willing to sit back and let all of this happen the genocide of all Americans, then go to Iraq and meet your Al-Qaeda allies, but they will just kill you anyway, you are from America.
I support us being there so you can live here free of worry.

Read all the answers above... Are they logical or one-sided rants of brainwashed zombies?
The truth (not just in the US but in the Rest of the World, as well) is that:
1. America lied to the world to invade a country to settle scores and gain cheap oil.
2. America justified the act saying that Iraq had WMDs and was harbouring terrorists (yup, I like the way the rest of the world spells words). Both were found to be bare-faced lies. In fact, Saddam was never liked by Osama or his bunch of fanatics. He kept them out and kicked his people to toe the line. But after we invaded, these guys have swarmed in, and are having a field day plinking at out troops when not fostering Shia-Sunni conflicts.
3. We were kept silent and told that it was unpatriotic to question what our country was doing. We were told that it was in retribution to the attacks on our soil on 9/11... What Lies!!!
4. Those who were better informed and arose to question could be silenced by draconian laws enacted such as the US PATRIOT act and so on.
I feel we should publicly accept our mistakes, and ask for the UN and the rest of the world to help us put Iraq back on its feet, and if we have to pay for it, then so be it. Otherwise, we are neck-deep in another Vietnam, and defeat is the only way ahead.
I am not un-patriotic but the truth is there for all to see. When will you folks remove the wool pulled over your eyes and see the bitter truth? We have screwed and have done it big time..

It is my opinion that we have no business being in the Middle East. Any part of the Middle East.
Ya know, you hear all the time about the U.S. giving aid to this country, that country......everywhere.........
Does anyone (in the U.S. government??) realize that we have starving, homeless people right here at home? Why are we so quick to try to fix everyone elses problems first, rather than our own?? This makes no sense to me.
Do a detailed search and find out just how many Americans (US citizens, not naturalized even) were fed at food banks, homeless shelters, just in the last week. That is where our focus should be.
We have to be able to take care of our own first, before we try to take care of everyone else too.
Sure, we (the U.S.) wants to be seen as *THE HERO*....but isn't that kind've contradictory? *Yes, we saved X number of Afghani or Iraqi people from a sure death, but X number of Americans died from being homeless in America*....................HELLLLLOOOOO? Anyone home?????????????????????
