You should allow ninety minutes to two hours prior to your departure for flight check-in and security when you're traveling within the borders of your home country. If you are traveling outside the borders of your home country, you should allow two to three hours prior to your departure for flight check-in and security. If you have questions regarding the specific airports and airlines in your travel plans, please contact your travel arranger.-

I would suggest for a domestic flight to arrive two hours prior and for an international flight three hours prior, especially if you are traveling during the holiday season. You want to give yourself plenty of time to get through the checkpoints, etc... so you don't miss your flight.

For international flights it is recommended to arrive in the airport 3 hours prior take-off.
For domestic flights it is recommended to arrive 2 hours prior take-off.

Normally 2 hours for Internatonal and 1 hour for domestic flight but you mayhave to add at least 1 more hour for international flight to and from US. as their security procedures are more tough than flying to/from other airports (don't know whether London has relaxed thier security measures).

Lets not just leave recommendations here...I'll give you some reality.

Municipal-45minutes usually does it, sometimes 30, but hour is asked for.

Major city but inside US-1 hour is usually good enough.

Overseas: 2 hours usually does it, if you are in a big city, maybe plan 2 1/2 or 3.
