but the roots did. The roots are light brown, and that is the color I want. Is there anyway I could go to a salon and get one process color to match my roots? That way, all my hair will be the same color.

The reason the roots took to the color is because it is the least damaged part of your hair, tending to color the fastest. I would get it colored again, or you can get a shampoo called Vo5 in your local beauty salon, it' purple, and it really works on taking the brassieness out of blonde hair and making it even, but personally I would re-die it again and then use the shampoo :)

I would definitely recommend going to a salon to have the rest of your hair redone. It's true, the roots dyed but the rest did not because the root growth always takes dye quicker (the heat from your head causes the dye to process faster). But since you've already died it once now, you don't want to risk damaging your hair further, or even worse... trying to dye the length of your hair the same color as the roots but ending up with a color that still doesn't match. Go to a professional who can mix up the right color and get it right on the first try.

Yes, you can go and get the color matched. Did you have color on your hair before? That makes a big difference. Color will not lift color. Go to a place that really knows what they are doing when it comes to corrective coloring.
Other wise you may end up with your many different colors. Good luck

if you have dark hair to start with and are trying to go lighter, you must bleach hair first then apply the new color. i would recommend going to a salon to have a professional sort this one out.

Megan knows what she is talking about. I also have REALLY dark brown hair. In order to lighten it, you have to bleach it first, then add color on top (toner, I think...?) Anyhoo, you really should have a salon pro do that b/c you risk frying your hair. Good luck!

You're going to have to strip your natural color from your hair first...then apply the dye. By that time you're hair might be really damaged so be careful.

You have to bleach your hair first, THEN dye it light brown.
It'd be best to go to a salon though.
They know what they're doing, well if you go to a good one. o-O

What you have to do is bleach it. It will become very very light. Then you can dye it the shade that you want.
