Chances are your puppy was taken away from it's mother too soon. It has abandonment issues. However, for it's own good, and yours, you have to train it to be comfortable on it's own. Give it lots of love while you are home. While you are away, make going away a good time for her/him. Give the pup a treat as you go out. Leave the radio or television on so it has 'company' while you are out.

My dog is now 11 and still whines if she's left outside too long.
They are pack animals and get lonely easily.
The best advice I was given is to check in a couple of times a day, or have someone stop in if you are at work.
Get a big KONG toy and put treats into it. The puppy will play with that thing for hours and not get bored if it has to work for a treat.
I actually bring my dog with me when appropriate. If it's not too hot outside, she loves being in the car, and then we always stop off at a dog park or somewhere for a quick walk.
Be careful though... if it's more than 75 degrees Fahrenheit outside, leaving a dog in the car isn't a good idea, and always leave the windows opened a few inches.

Well, puppies whimper for various assundry reasons. Maybe you need to find out why he is whimpering. He could be cold, or hungry or thirsty. He may be feeling neglected. Depending on how long it has been since he was taken from his mom and siblings, he could be having a hard time adjusting to being alone.

Puppies are babies, so since they can't talk it is up to you to find out what he needs. Put yourself in his place if you will. A satisfied pup is a quiet pup. Depending on how old your pup is, he needs to be eating 3 or four times daily, is he getting enough to eat? Is he getting enough play time and attention time from you? Have you had him vet-checked? He could have worms which could be giving him colic or a tummy ache.

If you are tending to your puppy well enough, then it might just be a bad habit of his that you should try to break. Try distracting him when he starts to whimper. Take him outside to romp and use up some of that wonderful puppy energy of his!
If you are afraid that he is disturbing your neighbors, and nothing seems to work, you might want to have a talk with your vet about a partial "debarking" procedure. That would be an extreme action to take though.

Golden rule; do not give him attention when he cries. This will encourage him to do the wrong thing. Only attend to him when he shuts up. When you leave him when you out leave an old blanket for him , this will have your scent on it making him feel more secure , also try a radio on low volume. Make sure he has a 'safe spot ' in the house like his bed in a certain corner. As for toys kongs are an excellent boredom just stuff them with food (dry dog food, frozen meat mince etc.) And he'll be amused for hours!

do no longer you already know that an 8-week previous domestic dog cries?? that's what they do, they omit their mama. you may take this canines to the vet and get her something of her domestic dog photos immediately. She ought to capture distemper or parvo and die. in case you could no longer discover the money for it, then i'm sorry, yet you may no longer have a canines. canines are costly. What are you feeding her? She won't consume kibble, she is in basic terms too little for that. attempt a reliable high quality canned domestic dog foodstuff. she would be able to't poop if she would not consume. there is no such ingredient as a "suited" canines. in case you anticipate that, then you certainly could are turning out to be a filled toy. For the whimpering, you're meant to convenience her such as you may any toddler that's crying. puppy her, communicate candy to her, enable her understand she is risk-free. placed something delicate in her mattress, provide her a stuffie to cuddle up next to so she isn't so scared and lonely. I do wish you have a mattress for her??

as your puppy gets older, he will learn that you will return, and that he is ok without having to sit on your lap. if your dog is still especially young, there is nothing wrong with snuggling and giving sweet attention to your dog as long as you set the guidelines. be consistent and firm with puppy that when you are snuggling it is your invitation to him, and that when you put him down, he needs to find something quiet to do.

make certain that he has appropriate chew-toys, as chewing to puppies is like pacifiers to babies. (rawhides and nyla bones are not preferred - either get a baby kong and fill it with a little peanut butter (no sugar added) or make sweet potato rings for him (cut sweet potatoes in inch thick slices, and dry in the oven at a low temp until hard... very tasty for pup and easy to digest with puppy tummy)... if you give him some lovey-time and then give him a treat when you put him down on the floor, he will begin to associate free time with ok time...

additionally, when you put pup-man down, DONT pick him back up if he whines. ask him to sit first, and let the reward for that be picking him up. if you pick him up when he whines, he will begin to learn that whining is the equivalent to asking to be held.

give him a potato treat or kong as you leave the apartment in the morning, make certain that he has potty pads to go on while you are gone, and leave the radio or tv on to a talk station (not loud, just below normal conversation level) to keep him company. finally, consider crate training him, and coming home at lunch to let him out for a bit, a potty break, and a snuggle.

eventually you can leave him for eight hours at a time, but until he is bigger, treat him as if he requires attention no more than four hours apart... if you can't come home at lunch, ask a trusted neighbor to let him out in the middle of the day.

If you just got your puppy most puppies will do the same thing. It took our puppy a couple of weeks to finnally get used to everything and figure out what was going on. Our pupy was very scared of everyhting especially since she lived in a four by four pen made of wood with just her siblings since she was four weeks old. We got her when she was about 3 or 4 months old. We had to be with her at all times. Or she would whine. Everything was new to her even us. She was very scared and didnt know who to trust and where her family was. Just give your puppy time to adjust and give him lots of attention and love. And let your dog sit on your lap if he needs to for the first few weeks. Our dog even whined when we were eating dinner in the kitchen. She was in the kitchen just walking around whining her head off because she needed attention and didnt know what was going on. All you need to do is give your dog lots of attention and love 24/7 for about two weeks. And yes your dog is going to whine when you leave for about 2 months. then he will grow out of it.
Our dog would not stop whining when we put her in her crate when we left. We tried everyhting. But the best thing you can do is properly crate train it and it will come to love its crate. our dog is about 7 months old right now and she doesnt mind being put in her crate. She doesnt like it that much but she tolerates it and doesnt whine anymore. Just give your dog time, patience and love. Eventually and quickly it will stop whining. we thought our dog wouldnt stop whining either but she did. Also crate training your dog is a good idea because it will feel safer when he is alone instead of being in the apartment alone. He will know he is safe and he wont rip up or pee or poop all over your apartment either. But when your dog gets older you could let him loose if you like in your apartment when your gone but your dog will most likely want to be in his crate because most come to love their crate because it is like their own room or safe place that they can go to at any time.

Bottom line is give your dog love and attention and the whining will go away sooner than you think. A crate will also help when you leave so that he isnt scared of being alone in a big area, instead he will be in his safe place and will not whine as much.

Good luck and Happy Holidays!

Kept my pup in a smaller room (bath)
so there was less for him to worry about.
Less for me to clean up and no wires to chew.
Got a heating pad for pups. It's very
important that it's the right type, so he
can't get burned or over heated.
The heating pad fits under the crate,
they can't reach it, to chew.
Had his bed made in his crate, with a clock
on top, where he could not reach it. Left the
radio on low, equals happy puppy.
The first week I came home for lunch.
He actually stopped crying after 3 days.
