I was wondering what mos's would most likely to not be deployed to iraq, afghanistan. I have no problem going overseas(i.e. germany, etc...), I just dont want to go to a warzone. I will probably choose a career in construction, electrician, plumber, etc.. I just wanted to know if a career in those has a high chance of having to kill people, or hiding from snipers in iraq, afghanistan.

Don't worry. The Army would never send you to a combat zone, they understand how you feel, and are more than willing to work with you.

Just sign the contract and enjoy your pay and benefits. You XXXXXXXXXXXXXXxXXXXXXX!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you enlist, no matter the MOS, you have a possibility of being deployed to a warzone. That's the nature of the Armed Forces. We are in wartime so the possibility of being deployed goes up. Combat support isn't on the front lines but you are still in a warzone. It doesn't matter. You are a soldier first. If you really want to enlist, talk to someone who has been there but it sounds like you have some issues to work out before you even consider. You need to decide if this option is right for you. The Army isn't for everyone. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

All MOSs are capable of being sent. The whole deal in making up an army is to build a team of the various parts needed to conduct a war. Engineers (construction or combat) have been among the first deployed because of how they fit into the fight. Construction engineers are being used all over.

It is impossible to tell if you might be deployed and where. I know engineers that are working in Kuwait (relative safety) and I've known lots of them that spent much time in Iraq. Others have never left the States. If you sign up you should understand that the whole reason the Army exists is to take on combat. I encourage you to join, but if you can't deal with being in a war zone then look for something else.

Don't join the Army if you don't want to go to a war zone. We are fighting a war right now, are you scared to do your part?

But with that being said, something like admin doesnt seem to likely to be in a war zone. My USMC recruiter has been in Admin for 8 years and hasnt been overseas once. And just because you go to Iraq does not mean you are going to be in the middle of fire fights every day. I've heard of INFANTRY guys going over there and not firing their weapons at all. But don't ***** and moan or threaten to move to Canada when you are asked to go to one of these places. Everyone does their part. Some things are worth fighting for.

Have you ever heard of PFC Jessica Lynch? She held a combat support MOS and still ended up getting shot by insurgents.

Dude, if you do not wish to be deployed to a combat zone, do yourself and the rest of the Army a favor and don't enlist. We don't need people like you in the military.
