i know there is no rule to it,but is it appropriate to talk about lets say the product that you sell, while eating out,or is it just to break the ice,and the business meeting follows?

Start talking business when the main course is served. A business lunch means doing business over lunch. Save the receipt for reimbursement.

If you ask someone to a business lunch they would not be surprised to hear about business. You would do well to keep the conversation light while eating, this will also make them feel more at ease when the meal is over and the business talk begins. Good luck!

I don't see anything wrong with it. Of course you don't try to cramp your ideas in any setting but I think it is a good idea. Especially if you have tried and tried to get a business meeting with them and you were unsuccessful. Maybe lunch is the only time they have available. Not anything extensive, just try to launch you idea to them. You would be surprised what a free meal will do. May God Bless You.
