i have a big of open, but zip locked bag of chocolate chips, for baking. there is no expiration date...do they go bad?

They can expire. It just depends on the climate they are kept in as far as when this is going to happen.. Usually milk, semisweet, or dark chocolate will start to turn sort of white or a very light brown in places, have a strange texture, and have a very off taste. If it looks good, do a taste test and if it tastes ok then it is perfectly fine to use.

eventually they expire. But I have used expired white chocolate chips and they tasted just fine. Just don't wait to long. Good luck and Happy New Year!!!!

If they do, I cant tell, I have pulled them out of the freezer after what must have been 2 or 3 years, and they still tasted fine! that's just me tho, I like chocolate chips, I just eat 'em out of the bag!

They don't expire in MY house. They don't last that long. I eat them like candy. Esp the new Hershy raspberry ones. You can tell by the taste if they are old.

chocolate chips do indeed eventually expire.

I don't think sooo...I had the toll house ones for a year in the freezer and they were still good...check it..pop one in your mouth!

takes them a real long time just taste some and see how thay taste

in my experience as a chef, no. the only reason for the date is that it is required by law.
